Funny, I saw a lot of spoiling play from Arsenal, taking it in turns to foul Wilf, especially later in the game. I must have been watching a different match. Edited by Mapletree (29 Oct 2018 11.45am) Well he was fouled a record number of times for the EPL this season & that's with a few advantages played too. [Tweet Link]

Willo, I see you as a man who appreciates precision and accuracy so I'm sure you'll forgive me for pointing out that the possessive form of 'it' is in fact 'its' and not 'it's' as you've put in your post. 'It's' is a contraction of 'it is'. I trust that this was an oversight on your part. Edited by Cucking Funt (29 Oct 2018 12.33pm)

The kicking they still do, it's the space they allow him to have as the top clubs don't double and sometimes triple up on him like the lesser sides have done in the past. One on One Wilf is trouble for any top defender. Nope, they trippled up on Wilf

Still don't know how Arsenal sub Lichtenstein (or smt like that) was allowed to finish the game. Time after time he hacked down Wilf...in the end a yellow card, but it should have been red long before that.

I added the number 10 role in a 4-2-3-1 just as you posted that link. That may solve a lot of our problems. Conservatism of 2 midfielders who can operate as def mids, a counter attacking set up and plenty of able players to attack in possession with the number 10 as well as on the counter. Roy may need to change up his regular methods. Schalke have a higher expectancy than we do. He didn’t have a problem with the speed yesterday when attacking the box. He was dangerous and he made others dangerous. We need creativity and something needs to happen to make us creative, dangerous and less predictable, relying on that ‘we might get a chance at 0-0’ philosophy. Actually when players sit back at Selhurst it can be slower but challenging to break them down. We’ll see. But he’s too good to not play, which is ultra frustrating, which Roy is. No problem if the results are more than good. Edited by Rudi Hedman (29 Oct 2018 8.47am) He did do all the things you say. I'm just wondering whether he'll always seem a bit powder puff as an attacking midfielder. I think his decision making -- and the runs our players are able to make when he does get it right -- might mean we don't create the chances we'd all like. Maybe Roy will give him a role as an out-and-out attacking midfielder v Boro. I don't think we'd lose a lot putting him in for McArthur just now -- he was game in wide midfield but it wasn't the right position for him in my book. Kouyate really impressed me on Sunday so I'm hoping that's the player we bought and will get every week from now on.

My view with not evidence to support it, is that with VAR generally the " big " clubs would get away with less. There is also the constant problem of players not being sent off for red actd offences in early minutes of games and as we saw over the weekend in another game, players not getting second yelloew for stupidity such as throwing the ball away.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

That has apparently been the view in countries that have been using it. Generally supporters of smaller clubs are more in favour than the big boys.

A good point and a good performance given an Arsenal team in high form. These types of performances tell me that we belong in the PL. A great achievement as I can remember the hoof it type of football we played in the first 2+ seasons. But my special observation for this post is WAYNE HENNESSEY. A notable lack of bad posts about him. He is now playing consistently to the standard we all knew or believed he could achieve. Well done WH.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zhaka' by bexleydave Saw him interviewed after the game saying that he had fouled Zaha which led to the penalty. Refreshing to see some honesty instead of the normal blinkered view players and managers usually have. Big respect to him.
