This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Vicente Guaita thread' by Midlands Eagle As a former GK and a coach, when you are coaching strikers you would coach them to shoot low across the GK as it offers the opportunity for someone to follow it up if the shot is saved, as a GK you would be expecting this so you position your body shape and weight to cover this, for a class player to then put it in the top of the net there are very few GK's that would have anticipated this and been able to change their position and react to this. the second goal is a similar scenario, he was moving across goal and to change direction with all your wait going the opposite direction is hard. The third goal though, i think he could have made this harder for the striker

There was nobody near to follow in a rebound. VG was on his knees. That wasn’t preparing himself for anything. On the plus side he caught one ball in the air. But his kicking wasn’t great, which is the one thing I thought he was quite good at when he arrived. His distribution and confidence with the ball at his feet, even if Jamie Vardy would’ve shown him up if it wasn’t for the foul on VG awarded. We’ve bought another keeper not good enough for this level. At least Parish waited for him to be free.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Vicente Guaita thread' by Midlands Eagle Since his brilliant start Guaita has gone off the boil and I honestly don't think there is much between him and Hennessey and another new goalkeeper is a requirement this summer

I agree he could do nothing about the 3rd goal but my point being Hennessey would have been slaughtered on here for that goal. I'm not saying Guaita is a bad keeper but he is not that much better than Wayne. Ryan Giggs praised Wayne in their last Welsh match where he made a worldie save to preserve a clean sheet.

Both have strengths and weaknesses and they are about the same level. Both are lower half table keepers give or take depending on form. Competent but no better. I'm not sure why people expected Vincente to be amazing. Largely a backup keeper in his career, with a couple of good seasons in a very defensive side in a side which does not test keepers as much/in the same way (crosses).

for the first goal he was on his knees before the ball was kicked . He has to make himself look large at times like this , as all top goalkeepers do He keeps doing that.
