Surely we must have some other option, even with the sick notes ? Surely Sorloth was brought to replace Tekkers if need be ?

In the 442 formation we caused every team we faced problems when it was a pacy attacking player playing off the main striker. Even more so when it was just Wilf and Townsend running at defences.

Should’ve been either Benteke/Sorloth with Townsend off of one, running in behind on second balls and pressing the back line when out of possession. Roy has seen no issue with being narrow in the midfield 4 and playing wide midfielders as opposed to wingers so MccArthur could’ve easily slotted into one of the positions with Schlupp/Cabaye or whoever else was fit at the time on the other side.

Hitting and hoping with one big man up is grim enough. But with 2 units who lack any agility and it’s basically like watching rugby.

You people make me laugh

No he can’t. It has been apparent for a couple of years but he’s still there. If we go down the 3 reasons will be Benteke, Hennessey & transfer policy. Thought would not see him in goal again after Bristol City but sadly still have to suffer the clown.

But they didn’t represent value for money and put us in a position where we had to try and short change our way through the summer again and then even this January. The problem with Palace always has been and always will be the fact that we’re so obsessed with the short term being the be all and end all.

We’re never prepared to do what’s necessary for the long term progress of the club if it is at the expense of a short run of results. Hence us doing that business and spending all the money we have in previous years on transfers and still desperately fighting for survival every season.

I probably sound like a broken record with this type of stuff, but it’s the truth. Survival only means something if it equates to any chance of sustaining it. All we have done is put off the inevitable and until a change of direction comes that we actually stick to, it will be the same story every single year and I think we’re really on our last tightrope.

You contradict yourself, we signed Sorloth as a long term investment, but then you say he isn't ready for the Premier.
So, what do you mean?

Because we’ve left ourself in a position where we literally cannot do that and he is a type of player that by the very nature of the way he plays is not an idea towards any sort of progression in the way we play whatsoever. It’s a step backward if anything.

My point around sorloth is he doesn’t look good enough to ever play in the PL & he definitely isn’t the type of player who’ll see us eventually being able to break down teams better which has been our biggest problem since being promoted and one that we simply haven’t addressed.

You can be young and raw but still possess awareness and footballing intelligence. He seems to lack it severely, but as I’ve said I’m not opposed to giving him a chance, I’m just making a quick judgement call from what I’ve watched in the last couple of games.

Right now of course our priority has to be survival. But if we do pull this off it’ll be our last chance doing things the way we have this season. And I think we’re in serious, serious trouble as it is.

Not to mention Speroni costing us five points before Hennessey came back!

There is no long term planning to improve the squad. In the past we have had to panic buy, but this year have purchased players for the Championship. None of this years signings look capable of keeping us in this division (or possibly the one below)
