That excuse for a Prem forward will be picking up monthly £500,000 salary (pre-tax) again in a few weeks. That could be spent on the NHS.

If he took the penalty off of Luka, he obviously is not a team player. It's an all about me moment. He's all we've got at the moment, and would need to sign 2 forwards in January to get rid of him.

Going to be a lot of angry fans on here tonight & rightly so. Luka scored a cracking penalty earlier in the game & should have taken that one really. No guarantees he would have scored but i'm sure his effort would have been better than Benteke's. No point being angry though just disappointed but a point is a point. We lost 3 points to Swansea & West Ham but gained 1 point on WBA.

Not sure about selling him, but he shouldn't be on penalty duty that's for sure.

I can't let the penalty cloud my judgement, it was a ridiculous and unforgivable decision, but assessing whether or not we should sell our only striker goes way beyond that. It was a feeble penalty and why we chose to take the risk at that minute I'll never know but, still, anyone can miss a penalty. The problem is, I don't think Benteke is anywere near as useless of a player as some make him out to be but you either build a system around his type of striker or he's ineffective. It's as simple as that for me. Roy Hodgson clearly likes to play a high intensity game, especially at home, and Benteke simply isn't agile enough and doesn't press enough to make a big enough impact in this system. I don't think for one second think Benteke is a bad player and I certainly don't think we should sell him, his aerial ability is undoubted for me, but he is a target man plain and simple and when we play on the front foot he is ineffective. It can't just be Wilf looking to get in behind and run at defenders every time, but Benteke just doesn't give the opposition anything else to think about or concentrate on when it's on the floor. I like the system Roy plays at home, we genuinely play some defent stuff but we actually looked a lot more dangerous when we didn't have a fit striker (who would've thought). The energy and runs Townsend & Wilf made in behind seemed to cause the opposition so many more problems. Wilf can't always do it on his own and as much as I like Benteke, sadly with him in the team it restricts the danger of Wilf - and he's the player, if anyone, we should be building the team around. Edited by Mstrobez (09 Dec 2017 5.11pm) Good post. This is exactly why we should sell him. We don't need a player like that all of the time and we can therefore make do with a big striker at half his value and then buy a Defoe type striker who would fit much better into the system as you described it. Sometimes a big striker who is strong in the air and can hold the ball up is what is required, but as you rightly point out, our current style doesn't suit him. Finding replacements is not easy but that's one for Dougie to work out. If we can afford to keep him and buy a different type of striker then fine, but I would like to get the most we possibly can for him now and offload his salary too.

Sell Bentece - you must be joking¬¬ Put him out on loan to a team in the Conference. And send our so called manager with him. Fancy changing our successful penalty taker with Bentece - he7s been a waste of space in every game he has been selected. And whats happened to Delaney - not even on the bench Never mind the Champioinship next season - with decisions like this we will end up in Div One Whar a shambles

We lost 3 points to Swansea & West Ham but gained 1 point on WBA. This. Swansea beat a s*** team, and West Ham did wonders against a very poor Chelsea side. Neither of those actually affect us, as West Brom lost to aforementioned side, meaning "we're 2 points off 17th"..... Fuming though. Should be level with them at least. s*** situation, s*** decision and s*** penalty, but what's done is done. We just have to move on and focus on the 4(?) games we have before the transfer window.
