You were conflating an over-exuberant, unwanted approach with sexual harassment. She had no way to threaten you, so the situation just ended from what you had said. No harassment here, just a rude awakening.

As to your point that she might turn it around and claim you were the one coming on too strong, well that exact thing has happened to me. It was distressing to find out (some time later) what she'd been saying about me, but it had no other notable impact on my career (she was a friend of a colleague) or my life. She had no power over me that way, so it just became a story that most dismissed for being completely out of character from a person who later became widely known for being nuts (because she was).

As to your Susan Boyle hypothetical and your gay boss actual scenarios, these are both sexual harassment proper. It's great that you were able to laugh off your boss' advances but another person might not have been able to the same, at best, or may even have felt the need to succumb at worst.

As for the media attention to this topic, it's only the disinfectant of daylight that will end this scourge. I mean, I get the burn out - I've heard far too many reports of ugly old men cornering women and making them watch him bang one out - but at least I'm only being forced to hear the reports, not actually go through the experience. Outing as many of these bullies and rapists as we can, as quickly as we can, is a very big step towards not having to hear about it any more, because these men will be able to get away with it maybe once or twice before they get outed, not decades.

Yes, you can be bothered by the drunk bird in the pub and, technically, that is sexual harassment. The difference is that, when the harasser has power over the victim, that's when it strays into illegality. I'm talking specifically about such illegal acts while you seem to be lost in your cloud of male privilege, as usual.
