Normal service resumed. Usual 1-0 hapless defeat. We all knew it.

Not hapless at all. We were the better team, bossed most of the game and Newcastle had to work hard to keep us out. Cruel sucker punch to lose to a last minute ricochet corner but that’s football.

That’s Palace, you mean. Snatching defeat from the jaws of a nailed-on draw.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Agreed. Why he didn't replace Cabaye who was on a yellow I'll never know. Was shape change obviously but still didn't make sense.

Haha normal service resumed (sorry).

The thing that annoys me most is that before the Chelsea win last week, we were on course for playing a whole season without a single goal, which must be a harder thing to do than actually winning the title. I think I'd started to sort of enjoy it in a masochistic sort of way. Now we're just going to be one of a number of s*** teams that get relegated (suffice to say I'm not too optimistic, but hey, you never can tell with Palace).

Not inconceivable for Wilf to get a second yellow... if he's banned next week suddenly looks a lot harder. If PVA puts the sitter away no one questions the decision.

If Benteke was playing we win today... simple as.

We'll get there.

Exactly!

Sorry, but if we were really the "better" team we should have won the game. We may be playing better than we were but we're still not scoring goals and defending our own goal well enough. Next week's result could determine the rest of our season as other teams are beginning to create clear blue water between them and us. It will get increasingly harder to get up to 17th place and beyond.

Playing like we did today and we should destroy West Ham next week.

Very unlucky not to get at least a draw. Excellent effort from the lads.

I've not seen their bloody goal but from all accounts. McArthur got to the ball first but headed it against Merino and it ricocheted in.How bloody unlucky can one get ?

At the end of the day, the performances in the last 2 games give grounds for optimism and we are certainly better placed than we were a couple of games ago so we are making progress.
