You're right. Profit-making and keeping the shareholders happy, always comes before basic health and safety these days. 'Cut corners and then cut further corners again' culture is alive and thriving. What you refer to is a problem everywhere in the world. Aside from good regulation I'm not sure what can be done about it.

I don't think you are being realistic or fair. Before you put people in jail guilt has to be clearly established. Perhaps at some point in life you yourself will be thankful of that fact. People sometimes sully the name of justice because it rarely produces the 'good and evil' outcomes that they want to see...and when this happens they aren't being realistic. Often justice is a reflection of life....which is often grey and not black and white. If something can't be proven you don't give people to the mob outside. If its a warm weekend as predicted, and more comes out about people being told they will be evicted for reporting health and safety issues, and more about the conservative chief not doing anything as housing minister for 4 years about safety,,,,,i can see this turning nasty, hope not in respect of the fallen, but hot weather is always a precurser to a riot, and if the details keep coming out,,as they are,,im steering clear of ladbroke grove! Sky also reported the panels used were flamable,,,the non flamable ones were £2 dearer,,,the entire cost of the dearer non flamable ones over the whole building was £5000 pounds,,,,unbelievable! unbelievable! Thats trump styly,,,styly,,,,,,,,,, Sky also reported on Wednesday that we were in talks with Pellegrini. Lots of guesswork and sensationalism at the moment. It may well be counter productive when it comes to the Public Enquiry

She would have needed an army of Police around her, they are irate and will get more so.

People have been watching that tower block for a few days now, and the shock will have worn off. I suspect a lot of people may be thinking like me, that fire was the worst they've seen in their lifetime (at least in a residential fire) and that they've not seen a building burn like that except in footage from the Blitz. And that's what I was thinking, yesterday, when did I last see a blaze like that, one that went up so quickly and trapped so many people. There have been a few warehouse fires etc that have been fierce, but a block of flats, I can't remember seeing that kind of intense, fast spreading blaze that completely gutted through entire floors. I wouldn't be surprised to see riots in the coming days if something exceptionally damning comes out.
