I wouldn't worry, the homophobic element at Palace will soon find out the hard way. There is so much attention paid on the Premier League. When we've got a 5 game behind closed doors ban for homophobic abuse set by the FA, people might learn. Drama queen alert!! Maybe we will get a 20 point deduction aswell

Any coincidence that our run in is as bad as it is...I bet they hated it when we sacked Pardew and got big Sam in....

I'll guess first, I reckon you raped a few people , but it was as part of a crowd and it in the 80s so it doesn't count. You want to know if it still means you're a bit rapey? Nice

Say what you like, it is up there with racism for those that are LGBTQ. Having that thing a lot of football fans miss, a shred of empathy, and you would see that. There have been behind closed doors bans for racism across the football world. I would not be surprised for one second if it happened for homophobic chants, and that IS what they are.

It's certainly a naive perspective. The point is, whether banter or not, this kind of behaviour legitimises homophobia. Not everyone is intelligent or mature enough to disseminate what is "a bit of a laugh" from what is bigotry. Is a 10-year-old boy going to understand that homophobic chanting is in fact not an insult but actually being done by kind-hearted folk who are just on a jolly? Or how about the group of friends that wear velcro shoes to avoid the intellectual challenge of putting their footwear on each morning; will they understand the subtle nuances of the chants? Naive?! It's the perspective of someone who has been on the receiving end of abuse. To think that the use of the word in a derogatory context is not homophobic is naive. We like to sugar coat stuff as 'banter' but at the end of the day it is beyond that. If Brighton was known more for having a large Muslim community would be ok to chant anti Islamic "banter"?
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

The thing that boils my **** about this kind of **** is being told by some sanctimonious ****** that I should be offended by it. They, above all, should shut the **** up & stop trying to make themselves look special, especially when all most of us want is to treated like everybody else." Perhaps it might be the most relevant perspective on the issue, despite the beer consumption involved. What that tells me is that your friend is comfortable in his own skin, has good self-esteem and does not need the help of strangers being nicer to feel good about himself. A lesson for us all.
