As you know we have a bigger natural resource of talent in our area than most of the big teams as the biggest club in South London. We need to convert that numbers advantage into promising players. If we want to get the training facilities up to scratch then the training ground should be moved, maybe to Crystal Palace. I would actually place the training facilities ahead of a new stand in terms of importance. Incidently, you say our scouting network needs to be improved but do you know how it currently works and how it could be improved? I would be interested to know. Have you any idea how aggressive and successful other clubs are in signing up the best couple of dozen players in each year in each south London borough? They do not stick to their own side, area or corner of London. Your aim is unrealistic. In fact it's delusional, aiming for Alex Ferguson's instruction to MUFC or Chelsea's offer of thousands tomparents.

EX PAT EAGLE you seem to have a strong view given your many replies. i need to say that i actually admire SJ and on whole & he ran the club with his best wishes at heart, and certainly doesnt deserve any bad comments from our fans, his only crime was running out of money / luck whilst running the club...but however bitter he is about CPFC 2010 im sure i remember SJ also got CPFC at a discount price (£10m) it just so happens, 2010 hit lucky in having zaha come thru & freedman signing yannick for a pittance as there is no way we wouldav got promoted without those 2, geez...jermaine easter wouldav scored 30 goals with that service. however...you simply have to credit parish for what the club has acheived under his guidance, in fact i simply cannot believe how people are so negative towards a guy who has overseen our longest run in the top flight, and put together the best squad the club has agriably ever seen. you could argue that he should have brought the players pulis wanted before he left, but i admire his stance in stopping that happening as financially it wouldnt be a sound investment. would you rather he spent £100m every window & we went into administation again? as if you supported palace back then you would remember how f***ing horrible that feels like, also when goldberk f***ed us up. what we are doing is living within our means, infact it could be argued we are actually spending out of our means, but thats been down to reactive panic spending...thats why in my previous post i stated we should be using academy players to bulk the squad out. i dont mean this comment just to yourself but i genuinally do not understand what people here want from our lovely club, do you personally go shopping in waitrose when you can only afford to go to aldi? its like people think theres a magical money tree, it doesnt exist in real life thats why i holiday in the canary islands rather than the caribbean or the maldives. i dont have any ill feelings towards woy, but we need a long term manager who can build his own squad organically rather than spunking cash on expensive s*** players every 18 months. to coin a well used buisness phrase, crystal palace are like a swan, we keep our heads above water but underneath we are paddling like f*** to stay afloat...this needs to change, and im sure parish more than anybody else knows this. have a good night.

I agree with a lot here but when people use extremes like £100 million each window it spoils all the good things said. Oh and that £100 million would've been what Frank would've needed minimum to get any half respectable points. Where we've gone wrong is not spending the money we did have in August 2016 and then spending more on 2 left backs in January than we would've done if we prepared ourselves to buy one in August. And then we do exactly the same again with the striker situation in August 2017. We had the money for a striker seeing as we bid for Tosun, we had our bid accepted for Niasee, we've spent roughly 10 on Sørloth and bid 16 or so for Adamou. The difference this time is Parish doesn't want to get shafted in January for a striker to adequately correct the repeated mistake. So although I agree with a lot of what you've said, not having the money isn't true. The planning, preparation and delegation isn't good enough and sometimes you may not get the deal perfectly in your favour, and you know why, because they know the buyer needs the player. So as we need the player, what does Parish do? Doesn't do the deal. That is, I'm afraid, the issue. Agree on long term manager though, but Pardew in a frank mask was never going to work in the way he went about things. I'd love to know what Brighty, Freedman and Roy thought when they heard how Frank was setting the team up in the summer and v Huddersfield. Hell the quality press said it was doomed. And what did they think on 1st September when it was official we had 1 striker?

Thing is, had we never got promoted that fluke of a season under holloway, then we will never truly know Parish's worth. Why? We got promoted - since then it's been a relegation battle, Pulis pulled us out and then walked. Pards came in, pulled us up then pushed us back down. SA came in, dragged us out then walked. FDB came in, sacked. Roy came in, somehow pulled us up but when he needed help in jan, he was left on his own. No one here can say we truly supported Roy in January, we didn't get one single player to come in and make an immediate impact. We got some bloke on loan that ic an't even remember if he has played, a polish player and and striker - all of whom need to improve fitness and then get a run out - that's not immediate. It just so happens Solorth is looking decent and is featuring quicker than anticipated. Sure, Parish has spent a couple of quid covering up the old cladding - fair play - but that's a perfect example of a metaphor we can use. Papering the cracks and seeing how it goes. Benteke and Sakho (i don't wanna play as i may hurt myself) should not be palace players, zaha should be the nucleus that the team is built around - Milo a perfect example - find another 4 players of his quality and mentality and you got your palace team back.

Maybe we should ask Barnsley fans their viewpoint, as they are sitting exactly where we were when Parish and co took over ? Hanging by a thread to the Championship. Something must of gone right over that period. Edited by Booted Eagle (04 Mar 2018 11.59am)

Your posting is getting nastier by the minute Rudi and as for your last sentence try reading it again it makes absolutely no sense at all.

Even the total failure that was Trevor Francis brought in AJ and that era was without the loadsamoney that SP has plus the ground (pinched by uncle Ron) and almost brought back by SJ until the money men called in the debt. How did they know SJ was lacking in funds??
