41% wins and 44% losses over his tenure.

Far from making no sense, it is insightful and intelligent to consider these last 12months as being significant when judging Pardew.

And you need to go back many more month and years to see why.

While nearly every club he has been at, as a manager, he has been able to show a positive impact on them. The over arching trend, the defining trend, is that this positive impact is ALWAYS short lived.

And once it's gone he historically finds it incapable to reverse the collapse.

So viewed from this perspective you are more likely to deduce that we are now in the full momentum of one of his tailspins that is most likely to end with relegation.

Neither do clubs exist from one season to the next.

At times like this when judging a man like Pardew, or indeed anyone else, you would do well to know your Churchill.

“When the situation was manageable it was neglected, and now that it is thoroughly out of hand we apply too late the remedies which then might have effected a cure. There is nothing new in the story. It is as old as the sibylline books. It falls into that long, dismal catalogue of the fruitlessness of experience and the confirmed unteachability of mankind. Want of foresight, unwillingness to act when action would be simple and effective, lack of clear thinking, confusion of counsel until the emergency comes, until self-preservation strikes its jarring gong–these are the features which constitute the endless repetition of history.”

Or as Santayana said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

When is his job on the line again? Seems to make him do things properly along with a bad show from the oppo. Or when are the players taking the next defensive training? Maybe get P1ss Poordew to learn something.

I can't believe he's still our manager and is going to remain our manager until the financial hit is staring Parish in the face to take the hit after extending that fool's contract to 5 years.

Parish needs to correct this one of few errors fast as its getting progressively worse.

I don't see a new manager being able to do much about our back 4.

Ward has been ok, but not as good going forward as last year.

Damo is slowing more, has been better after that game on the bench, especially with his Messi-like pass to MacArthur. But this season looks like his last as a starter. No Pape to cover his lack of speed this year.

Dann had been uncharacteristically error-prone, and hasn't been scoring. No one is talking about an England call up anymore.

LB, well we have no one at prem level.

Is there another team with a worse-performing back four?

Very apt

Good article and unfair on Rowett to an extent.
Maybe it is too early for me but I don't see the relevance to us and AP?

It was in reference to several posting that they couldn't understand why they got rid of Rowett. Personally I wouldn't want to see him at Palace.
