It's so irritating Mind you, Peter Sellers' cover of A Hard Day's Night is pretty amazing IMO

I get it that you like his stuff, but I don't.... it's all about our own musical taste and there will be stuff that we both like, and stuff that we disagree on good or bad. Of course. I don't like to get into all this musical taste thing. Some stuff I like would make others cringe. I don't care. Snobbery has no place in music.

Someone was playing Where Is My Mind on a piano at Brighton station the other week and I actually quite enjoyed it. Partly because I recognised the tune in a context I wasn't expecting to. But otherwise, I thought it was cack. Next up they'll do Here Comes Your Man on a piano and a sulky/sultry female vocal over the top. At this point I'm moving to another planet. OKgo did a pretty decent cover of Wave of Mutilation (which Beck has also covered). Also Weezer covered Veloruia for the pixies tribute album. Personally, I prefer my Pixies like I like my Coffee, Black and a good Deal of sugar.

Of course it does, part of the joy of music talking about what you like and don't like. That said I think there is a line between something having 'and something being liked. And I think often you can see it. I can't stand Bruce Springsteen, but I'm pretty sure he's good. Whilst I like B*witched and will openly admit that they're also terrible. The Corrs, they're alright, but surely no one could really claim they're 'the best band in the world'.

I also think most of Bob Marley's stuff is w***. I don't get New Order, the Cure or Echo & the Bunnymen. Right with you on Marley and have never heard anything from Wakemen that is vaguely interesting. BUT Echo & The Bunnymen?? I ought to rip your windpipe out! The Back of Love, Killing Moon... The Cutter.. are you insane Matty Boy???!!! Whoever said Bowie based on 1 collaboration with Bing Crosby should either be arrested or sectioned. I don't think Slade were ever really worshiped and were always a 'good time' band. However the 1972 Slayed? album is a cracker before they went down the novelty route and they produced a few great songs - "How Does it Feel?" would have been quite appropriate for whoever it was who was groping their date during Slade In Flame. I'm with Hrolf though - hate musical snobbery and always avoid YouTube comments which is an insane place to be. As much as I dislike Bono there must be 20 odd U2 songs that I like. Same goes for Coldplay. Meatloaf is god awful though - music for 50 year old women with a lot of denim in the wardrobe.
