In the 2011 census 59% of residents of England and Wales described themselves as Christian. In Scotland, the figure was 54%, down from 65%. In Northern Ireland 83% said they belonged to a Christian denomination.

Lets have a second census!

That's because every now and then one of them goes poking around in Summer Isle and gets burnt in a big wicker man.

I have just caught up with this thread and am still shaking my head. The far right are not talking about the sterling crisis, the low yield and annuity rates (directly hurting pensioners), rising inflation and reduced funding for public services etc all directly caused by the brexit vote and its propganda campaign but instead are talking about taking in 14 REFUGEES! ....intentionally undermining all refugees and immigrants in the process led by the HOL's very own Lily Allen ( i still laugh at that one).
I wonder if in this great and proud to be Christian country we will still take advantage of the christmas holidays, (meant to celebrate the shelter provided to a middle eastern refugee family and the subsequent birth of Jesus) or we will just send out a few naff cards and presents then pop open a couple more tinnies of special brew....i suppose we could then blame refugees for the hangover....better than blaming yourself innit

You are either a WUM or thick.

Which is it?

I do go to church actually, sometimes twice a week, ...and I think you will find that the leaders of this country would consider this a christian country although I know the secularists, humanists, atheists are growing in their calls to abolish the Christmas and Easter holidays and associated traditions e.g nativity plays etc

You go to Church and you call this a Christian country?

Tell me, when you are in Church do you keep your eyes shut?

A small collection of pensioners doesn't represent this country in terms of belief.

Those days are long gone. What politicians say when they are looking to court the post 65 vote....who are far more likely to vote....what they say bears little connection to the real reality.

I'm a secularist and I have no desire to change Christian traditions....The religious significance has largely been lost to most people. I don't believe to forcing people to change.

Outside of a majority call for change I don't see these rituals and traditions going. I'm fine with that.

I use to put myself down as a Christian for a long time....I didn't go to Church regularly though and to be honest I was a cultural Christian.

I think you will find that a large number of those 'Christians' are cultural Christians....Church attendance figures pretty much prove it.

I didn't give it much thought until I was in my early thirties and it was only after that....only after that reflection and looking at the evidence, reading books, talking to clear minded people that I realised that holding onto these myths was a dishonesty to myself.

It wasn't easy to give up religion.....I think a lot of people feel that.

WUM it is.

Good to know. Explains the pisspoor grammar, the attempts at virtue signalling and the incoherent posts.

Repeat folk tales that have become part of the national lexicon, but are actually as reliable as the bloke down the pub. Just to give a reason to stop these war refugees a place to be safe and welcomed.

Someone said on question time tonight that if we welcome those refugees it would pay back dividends because they will feel integrated in a place that was welcoming and gave them refuge from the horrors of war.

And how can you say for certain that they have been through "hell" to get here.
You can't, where's the young children women girls,

Did that really happen? I don't dare Google it. I now have an image of Susan Boyle flashing her muff while Edward Woodward yells "Oh Jesus Christ no, for the love of the Lord oh God noooooo".

Hahaha

2 more lies/spin.

By "mix it up" you mean lurch from left to ultra left and back again?

By "read widely" you mean union handbook, Momentum blog, Daily Mirror, Grauniad, etc etc?

And you have the brass neck to accuse me and others of having a closed mindset!
