I am all for picking out the positives, and am usually one of the first to do so, at the end of the day I love palace I don't enjoy criticising them. But there is a difference between picking the positives and falsifying them, would you really agree Lee was 'Terrific'? Your opinion is as important as mine or anyone elses but the real difference is we only see the picture from a distance whereas he is up close and personal.Who knows what he said to the players behind closed doors, who knows what the conversation will be when its him and SP in a quiet room discussing last night and performance levels in terms of the club moving forward. You look at how much these fine margins are worth to any club in our position in the PL and why would any one of us believe that we should be entitled to 100 % honesty? In my opinion he had already made his mind up not to be negative in any way should we lose tonight having put out a team that showed where our priorities lie.Saturday is the game we need to win and negative just would not of helped the cause.

So why take the risk of playing talisman, Dann who will be out of Saturday's game due to injury?

Honestly mate its getting out of hand now.Dann,McArthur or anyone else could train tomorrow and break a leg in 3 places what do you suggest hide the 1st 11 under the stairs and wheel them out on a Saturday only? Maybe AP could have rested him as well maybe Dann asked to play when told he wasn't going to we really don't know the circumstances do we.If Tomkins hadn't of been injured on Saturday then it was guaranteed Dann would have been rested but that's the joys of football at any level I'm afraid. One thing is concrete though no one from the supporters through to the manager and owners would of wanted to see Dann limp off so why turn it into a blame game FFS?

I can't help feeling disappointed because the overall team performance last night was so inept. In my view, irrespective of other priorities (...and we've yet to see how they pan out) we should have put out our best team at the outset with the aim of winning. We can always take players off and rest them if the result is going our way. That competition was the easiest way to gain entry to the experience and riches of European football and we didn't turn up. I also feel sorry for our loyal away fans who attended and sang their hearts out.

The reason, and I'm answering other posters in this sentence but the discussion is a follow up to several, Dann played and got injured and for that matter Delaney played and nearly got injured is that Tomkins is injured and we have have 3 centre halves. This is not a criticism but a fact. We also only have 6 defenders plus fryers so you can answer with that if Kelly or Ward got injured. I'm sorry but we're paying for not backing up the squad enough already. I didn't expect us to be fully backed up with 2 players for every position, but when it was an obvious concern we paid for inadequate backup in midfield last 2nd half of the season it was also obvious this Summer there might be a problem in defence and also attack. Forwards can cost in the £15 mil bracket so if you don't get what you really want, Remy who is proven but not full primed I understand. Hopefully he'll be ready before Benteke maybe cannot play for what I hope will be very temporary. But it is obvious, Souare car crash or not, because he could be injured himself so that isn't an excuse, 6 defenders isn't enough, and an unready or ready when he has to play at RB Flamini and makeshift LB in Ledley will both stretch things in a midfield that was a concern to begin with. Now that you've popped your head above the parapet, what you got to say about the matter?

As a lot of posters seem to think it wasn't such an important Cup, why not play Speroni? - it would have been a record-breaking 389th appearance in goal for the Eagles - surpassing John Jackson's appearances in goal.

that display last night made the first half vs Bournemouth look like a world cup winning 45 mins. If anything, its shown Pardew just who we dont need anymore in the squad. Wickham needs to buck his ideas up cos he was lazy at best Fryers? sit him down in a locked room with campbell please. Mutch?? dont even know what to say about that. Sako - Sako Sh1te. looked clumsy at best, Cluelessly lumbering about. SO sad that after Sundays performance, we have to watch such a spineless and effortless 'display' For once, if it werent for the much maligned Hennessy, we could have gone in at 1/2 time 4 or 5 down. You're the one who has come on here and made a ridiculous statement to start an argument (again). I've only seen Mandanda once - on Saturday. He didn't have much to do so too early for me to judge his merits. However, he did concede a goal so by your argument he must be rubbish! Most people (including the manager) are saying that Hennessey was one of our two best players last night - but of course that doesn't fit into your bizarre mindset. Did he steal your wife or something?

But why can we not throw in some youngsters in a game like this? Sako and Mutch, please be decent and leave this club... Because all our decent youngsters are out on loan. The only ones who could conceivably have been involved are Dreher, Wynter and Randall Williams. All very well for Pardew to praise Southampton's Academy and how they always have youngsters coming through - perhaps he should try playing ours occasionally.

Did he steal your wife or something? 1) He didn't have a lot to do - mainly cos he played on sunday 2) He didn't have much competition. I'm pretty sure had I played i'd have been one of our top 2 or 3 players. You can hang around waiting for Mandanda to make a howler then come on here and bin him off but face facts, Steeeeeeev is miles ahead of the leek muncher. Edited by paperhat (22 Sep 2016 9.33am)
