Interesting from Ron Noades three years ago regarding Sainsbury's.

Sainsbury's role in the redevelopment of the ground is said to be key but Noades said he would advise the owners to "hold Sainsbury's to ransom".

He added: "I wouldn't work with them. When I bought the club they were a nightmare.

"I don't know if the owners know or not but when I bought the club I bought the airspace over Sainsbury's so you can build on top of that and forget them.

"That's the sort of thing they would know if they rang me.

"These owners have a better chance than ever to rebuild that ground because of the money from promotion and Palace will never develop as a club until the ground is sorted."

Don't really understand how we could hold one of the biggest companies in the UK to ransom, surely they are in a strong position, knowing we are desperate to rebuild they could just sit and veto anything untill they get the best deal for them. we may own the space above sainsburys but would we still not need their permission to build. Wouldn't we just fail building regulations straight away ?

Plus they own our car park and we lease it from them. We want to use part of that to extend the Main Stand. As far as I can determine, Sainsbury's hold all the cards and we need to kiss their arse.

something likely will need to be decided before the 16/17 fixtures are released. If we are planning to do work next summer, then we would have to put in the request to play our final 2 or 3 matches away in order to give more time for construction.

Would love it if we made a conscious effort to slowly bought back land around Selhurst Park... Those two houses on the corner of the Main Stand would do for a start!

Love the optimism.

Of course we won't be back in The Championship and still with an old-fashioned, slightly crap and over-priced ground sometime before 2020.

Our owners (the British ones) are great but they aren't miracle workers. Where is the dosh coming from after wages and taxes to rebuild the ground? They won't take out a massive bank loan. At least I hope not.

I thought the americans money was for the stadium, and if youre going to the trouble of building a stand , you might as well build it once and get it over with, bigger the better for me! With spurs getting a 61k, arsenal have 60k, west ham 60k, chelsea planning 60k, a 40k stadium for us is about right i think, unless you want us to always be a class below them and a small step above our south london rivals!

Highest average gate ever 29,900 season 69/70. Unsold tickets last season around 25,000. We don't need 40,000 seats. The stadium would never sell out.
