He is a fantastic player with great potential. The large price tag and the huge responsibility at Cardiff must have weighed him down but still he performed extremely well for them.

To make reference to the fact he was in a relegated side which conceded a lot of goals and then make a judgement on his ability based on that is, I am sorry, but completely idiotic.

Seems to be a lot of people willing to disregard that Caulker was outstanding for Swansea, playing 26 games (rest missed through a knee injury) as they finished 11th. Last year was a shambles, Cardiff couldn't defend anything as a unit, but he still managed to add goals to his game. And he's only 22, he won't peak for 5/6 years. Would be a great deal, but we'll wait and see

Mirror and Metro...lets just wait and see.

The Mirror and Metro are two of the papers that officially gets more transfer 'rumours' and 'done deals' wrong more than any other newspapers.

In Premier League terms they are Fulham and Cardiff

Hard not to be very excited by this, malcky Mackay was a very good defensive manager and he signed him and said he would be the future England captain that's massive praise from a man who knows who a good defender is. This time last year were we gutted that hull had signed Davies and Cardiff had signed caulker now it's us getting the quality centre back for people say the price is to much.....there is no way we will sell him for any less than his price he will go again for £8million or for much more if pulis does what pulis does!!

Agree

I think he would be a fabulous signing - I cant get excited because its the piss poor Mirror - If the Guardian were carrying it then I would be happier.

Having said that a 'friend of a friend' who is usually right about these things - (I knew Chammers was resigning well before it was announced thanks to him) says that this is a deffo...I am just getting to cynical in me old age I reckon

I wouldn't be happy with £8m being shed on him. He melted last season after quite a good start for cardiff.
Yes maybe one for the future but not £8m plus a massive weekly wage.
Not for me, go get Hangeland and keep DD or get someone cheaper...

So you say Caulker melted and then suggest the captain of the only team who conceded more goals than Cardiff , if caulker melted , what did hangeland do then? Caulker would be Fantastic signing just like Scott Dann , who based on the way you judge players is also crap after two consecutive relegations.

He will also be playing in a better more organised unit with Dann who is far better than anything he played with last year so I think he'll look an even better player next season if he comes to us !

You are joking, Hudson was playing very well until he got injured, and Medel was easily their best player.

No he wasn't LOL. Medel was pretty poor for them. Caulker, Marshall, Campbell and Mutch were there best players.

Please don't even put dann and Hudson in the same league! Hudson is nowhere near a premier league player, and medel really let cardiff down last season very poor for an £11million signing.

Is that the mark Hudson that made two , yes two league appearances and then got inured? Think it must be you who is joking! As Medel who started well but then was toilet , Marshall , Campbell , caulker , Mutch and the Danish kid are the only players who performed well last season and that's from what I saw and backed up by Cardiff fans I know.

Medel was awful. Cardiff have had him for one year, mainly overweight for the year and will be losing millions when he leaves.

tbf Medel looked promising early on but because Cardiff played out and out attacking after McKay's sacking due to several reasons, it left him quite exposed.

If we're going to progress then we're going to have to spend that kind of money. We're not gonna get a player of Caulker's quality for 3 million in this day and age. If this happens, then it will be ecstatic, IMO he's a future England centre back.
