WORRIED that your teeth will be stained after a heavy night drinking red wine? Fear not; drink a bottle of white wine before going to bed, to remove the stains. |

1. The Thin Red Line. Honourable mentions to: La Haine, Schindler's List, Duel, Goodfellas, Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven, Saving Private Ryan, North By Northwest, Das Boot, Full Metal Jacket, Raging Bull, The Terrorist, High Noon, 300, The Good The Bad & The Ugly and any other Sergio Leone western. And Shawshank Redemption can sling its hook. It's a good movie. Good. As in less than great. More than terrible. But less than great. Edited by Mongo Like Clunge (06 Aug 2013 4.22pm)

P.S. I watched WALL-E again last night upon my own recommendation. It may deserve to be even higher on the list, it's a genuine fvcking masterpiece from start to finish. Edited by Mongo Like Clunge (09 Aug 2013 4.03pm)

[Link] There is so much going on in this movie: The allegory of Eve carrying the future of humanity in her "belly". I don't want to over-hype it for you, but fvck me, it is a sensational piece of film-making IMHO, and in fact one of the most romantic movies ever made. I believe it should have at the very least been nominated for Best Picture in 2009. Your average animated kids movie, this is not; yet somehow, every kid from 3-13 i've seen watch it (sorry, been staring at kids again) is totally and utterly enthralled by it. Quite the feat. P.S. Very interested to see what you get from it, Nick. Apart from a hard on. Edited by Mongo Like Clunge (09 Aug 2013 5.38pm)

Apocalypse Now Still a quality film. Looks great. Redux may have been a little bit too long but was still a good addition. Some like it hot The most fun you can have for an hour and a half. Loads of harmless and innocent fun
Terrific films. Still remarkably engaging. Such a revolutionary film for its time. How they had to do some of the camera work (which today looks easy) is incredible. And a brilliant brilliant story line. La Haine I watched ADF do a live soundtrack to this a couple of years ago and it added to the passion that this film has. Such a good film -- best of the last 10 years I reckon! You're talking classic films here, rather than the contemporary popular fare most have quoted on this thread. I think there is a world of these high class classic films that most on this site probably haven't seen. The likes of Guy Ritchie and Tarantino aren't fit to even tie the shoe laces of the late great Billy Wilder or Orsen Wells when it comes to film directing. Edited by Eaglekiwi (09 Aug 2013 6.17pm)
