I think it's got a lot to do with the tactics.

To me it just feels like if he stays fit and has a brief purple patch and scores a few goals we will see a completely different player. The last two seasons he has looked like a player who thinks he's already missed before he shoots, not the Bentenke who cheekily chipped the Chelsea keeper. I think he'll hit double figures if he stays, especially if we bring in a right-back who can cross. I thought the same last year and he actually played and scored a few in preseason. He then instantly went back to rabbit in headlights when the PL opened.

He is not a natural goal scorer, perhaps with his head but certainly not with his feet. If you watch the goal Murray scored against us last year, then that is a natural goal scorer finish. Didn’t think about it, didn’t have to because he knew where the goal was. You can definitely see Benteke thinking about it when the ball arrives with him. By then it is too late and the strike is no longer instinctive and he inevitably screws it up. It is partly a confidence thing but I think his boat has sailed for getting that back.

Have a look at his first year at Villa and Liverpool, he was a finisher then. He has one really good year then hangs up his boots. He is the most frustrating striker I have ever seen. Murray is in a different class...

I have nothing against CB but I think it would be good for both parties if he was to move on. Whilst any transfer fee would help the coffers, getting the wage bill reduced would also be a huge benefit. It would also give CB a fresh start. I can't see a European team offering the similar wages as the Chinese. I know he's a free agent in s year's time but that does not seem to worry the Chinese. Could be a win win for both parties.

If there’s any truth in this and he wants to go I think we should take it but they would have to sort it out quickly so we can get in a replacement.
