One of them has alzheimers so will have to sell the house / use value of house to pay for care rather than using the nhs what they've paid into all their working lives. So it's all about you missing out on your inheritance. How very Tory of you.

As for Hunt...well I think any criticisms of him are perfectly valid in general. Apparently the criticisms were harsh but I can't bother to listen to Hunt. I haven't seen him do anything useful. Gove has aspirations for being back in the cabinet. And I suppose it was partly also in response to the "lack of quality" about Labour remark. Gove is actually one of the most talented Tory MPs, but he's still capable of a giant facepalm moment. Specifically I am using "Tories" to refer to Theresa May and her camp/aides. They clearly do not take criticism well. And there has been insufficient scrutiny of both them and their treatment of the media. When Donald Trump decided to start banning papers from his events it was a scandal that was highlighted in this country. When Theresa May does it, it doesn't even seem to make the other news outlets in *this* country let alone overseas.

I don't see how Trump banning media outlets he doesn't like from press conferences is a 'scandal'. He isn't doing anything illegal and they are perfectly free to publish what they want. While Trump deserves a fair amount of the criticism he gets it's also true that some of it is pretty harsh and over the top.

Happy to be socialist until it affects you financially in a major way. But you won't be the only one. I have socialist relatives with a modest house for the area that's worth a fair few quid and I'll find out their opinion on this maybe soon, only they're gradually moving to socialist Spain as an in-law is Spanish so will be mixing and taking in the culture. May will still win the election by 10 lengths. Far too many Tories that feel the country's finances need sensible management.

Na, when it comes to talent Labour just aren't doing well....the days of Robin Cook are long gone....their quota system ensures that there is less room for talent over whether your gender fits. I think they are as chaotic as Labour, but they aren't in as big of a mess because they can get away with it.

I think this policy is inevitable but before it I'd cut off most healthcare for obese people after 3 years of GP registering obesity level or after 3 years of last NHS visit if they 'couldn't be &reed.' Unless legitimate psychological reasons for obesity can be proven, no more draining the NHS. Too many embarrassing states walking about anyway, eating whatever they want, knowing thousands of £s of NHS money will save them. Edited by Rudi Hedman (18 May 2017 4.41pm)

I'm more worried about the in laws giving up their house to pay for care to be honest. But yes, like many others, I may miss out on an inheritance. This policy is not going down well. Which is good, as having heard responses across the broadcast media, it's going to make a lot of people not vote Tory. Funny that people on here have complained about inheritance tax, (which affects a tiny proportion of people) but seem happy with what is being labelled by some commentators as a death tax. Whose's next on the undeserving hit list after the fatties? Can I choose?
