But none of this is proof Palace is difficult to get to. Only that the idiots didn't do their homework for 5 mins before leaving home and actually do what normal people do on an unknown journey. You know, plan the route? Jeez I have seen countless Northern Monkeys getting off the train at Crystal Palace on a matchday. That taxi office next to the station must be a little goldmine The Council Planning Officers are civil servants, and not elected. Thus nicely swerving accountability at the ballot box. Taking any discrepancies to court, will only incur costs, additional delay (any verdict will doubtless go to appeal, up and up the court system) and be counter-productive. Palace just have to play hard-ball at the negotiation stage. Palace have done well to get this far. Sweetening the Council is par for the course. Let's not fck it up, and end up like Coventry did.

When I stewarded there would always be a number of people arriving late because they went to Crystal Palace rather than Norwood Junction. This in spite of clubs putting “Do not get off at Crystal Palace Station. Use Norwood Junction, Selhurst or Thornton Heath.” in their travel instructions. There was even a Man Utd supporters coach that went to Crystal Palace and they didn’t show up until half time. Edited by kenbarr (14 May 2019 7.04pm)

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave Here is a current story about the way Planning can work for big projects. The Developers gets to expand the airfield,...by also building new Council offices, a new access road, and a police station. "A potential ‘Masterplan’ to increase the use of a major airfield has received support from several parish councillors. Members of North Weald Bassett Parish Council emphasised the historic importance and education possibilities North Weald Airfield has to offer residents. A new access road off Epping Road, control tower and police station could be constructed as part of the ‘Masterplan’, in a reported by Epping Forest District Council. A district council report published last month stated: "It is envisaged that EFDC offices will be located (on the eastern side) and the viability of accommodating other uses such as a library for North Weald Bassett and a Police Station can also be explored. " (This is Local London, 15 May 2019)

Edited by kenbarr (14 May 2019 7.04pm) I was picking the wife up one evening from Crystal Palace station, on a matchday. It's 10 minutes before KO, and a group of filthy Leeds fans wander out of the station. "Where's fookin' ground ?"

Edited by kenbarr (14 May 2019 7.04pm) A season or two ago a few drunk and rowdey Southampton fans were being loutish and aggressive in the street. I was walking behind them from Norwood Junction to the ground. A bus pulled in right near us across the road from the clock tower. One of the morons said to his mates look, this one goes to Crystal Palace. So they all jumped on. I thought about telling them......for about 3 seconds!

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Edited by kenbarr (14 May 2019 7.04pm) I got the overground from Wapping recently and for some reason it decided to go to bloody Crystal Palace instead of Norwood Junction, where I wanted. I thought about the number of times that I'd laughed at opposition fans ending up there. Anyway, decided to get a cab to take me back to East Croydon and there are no black cabs anywhere to be seen. It begins a light drizzle so I'm getting the hup, refusing to get a mini cab from the office near the station for some unknown principled reason. Eventually, a light comes out of the gloom and I hailed it. Now, I've been in denial for a few years now about getting my eyes tested, but I've always blamed things not being made clearer these days. I vowed to go to Specsavers though on this occasion because, instead of hailing a cab, I realised that I'd hailed a hearse. I'm quite glad that he didn't say "hop in the back". I hate Crystal Palace Station.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

Unless law changes then although you may install them they can not be used in the locked position. I can not see Palace spending money on something which can not be used. I also can not see a law change until 20/21 season at the earliest.
