Actually it’s too harsh to say Whitworth let us down, that’s not a phrase I like to use for him because he gave his all. Just that he should’ve made the save at S*ighton, I’m sure even he would acknowledge that.

I usually agree with a lot of what you write Eddie, however how do you validate that comparison of the two keepers based on their previous performances. If Henderson was that good he would be number one at Utd but he isn’t even close hence why he wants to leave. Johnstone is a good solid keeper and more than capable of being a PL number one. One of the primary reasons for this transfer being put forward is that we want top level competition. If that’s the case and the rumours are true that Johnstone will be moved on once Henderson joins, then we need to buy two keepers because nobody thinks Matthews is a good enough second choice. It all seems like a lot of effort for a minor improvement in a position where we are not really struggling. Iverson would have been a perfectly good number 2 keeper and we would have had a lot of money to spend elsewhere. How are ya Eaglecoops? In my opinion and after watching both keepers play I really believe we are getting a decent upgrade with DH. Also there is more than meets the eye with his situation at United. Do you remember he did an interview in 2020 basically slating the club because he was promised to be number 1 then they back tracked on him and he hardly played. He is a quality keeper and definitely better than what we currently have. I have no idea how that is going to leave the situation with our other keepers as VG is still a Palace player. I get the frustration with our fans as people don’t see the position as priority but it is better to improve somewhere than not at all.

They relied upon the old saying - ignorance is bliss. The Dazza species is now extinct as far as I can tell. He’s been exposed more times than Neil shipperley. It’s a poor showing to the HOL as far as I’m concerned that a thread has been specifically created to facilitate this unhelpful nonsense. And for the groupies - take some of your own advice and ignore! Isn’t it a shame then, that those who have constantly called him out cannot seem to ignore him! and continue to post about him! I am one of the groupies and don’t mind admitting it and I do not do Twitter ( I have never claimed not to have access to the internet) so I welcome any news on possible signings.

I’m firmly in the camp that an upgrade at keeper (not sure what the net cost will be if both Guaita and Johnstone are parting company), is not a priority for us, however he could perhaps become an England number one with continuous game time and strong performances, so maybe we should just celebrate that we have another decent youngster with room to grow value wise on our books. I am concerned, (other fans seemingly not so much), that Matthews becomes second choice if Henderson is out injured. Not so long ago we had Guaita, Johnstone and Butland on our books and all 3 of them were decent, now we will have a good first choice and hope the other two are able to do the job if required.

The trouble here is the way it is presented. In future windows a thread that focusses solely on rumours of the day/week might be better. So a weekly (or more often) update of the rumours from twitter and the net in one post. Because, let’s face it, that’s all this thread is - only someone adds things like ‘I have heard’ or ‘big week, this’ or ‘I am being told’ etc.

Wolves have got enough problems without losing him, but as they say one mans meat is another mans poison especially if he is gone before we play them. Originally posted by The groover
