Sure. Parliament promised to respect the vote.

What Parliament promised, Parliament can amend, or even withdraw if, in their judgement it is our best interests to do so. That is still respecting the vote!

That's the way our democracy works. If you don't like it then vote in a Parliament to make the results of referendums binding. Good luck with that.

Jesus Christ. Have a day off.

We didn’t it’s for our best interests right now. We voted for the long term future of this country.

It's talking about democracy and linking it, in the UK, to referendums that is the irony. No referendum in the UK has any part in our democracy which is vested solely in Parliament.

The will of the majority for us ONLY matters when we vote in a GE.

That has zilch to do with whether you voted Leave or Remain. It is simply a fact.

Have we switched to proportional representation then?

Absolute slice

Thanks too. You just demonstrated my point that so many Brexiteers don't understand how British democracy actually works. It's not done via referendums. Or indeed "People's votes". Which are the same thing.

It's done in Parliament.

Thanks You have just proved my point that Remainers are of the opinion that most Brexiteers are too stupid to understand what they voted for, absolute arrogance in the extreme

I think that's right really, much as it was the case with UKIP.

The Conservatives received a battering at the local elections and will certainly be on the receiving end of another one at the European elections. A party can only take on so much damage before it unites on something out of desperation.

'Researchers gave 11,225 volunteers psychological tests before the referendum and asked how they intended to vote. Results suggest that leavers tended to be less numerate, more impulsive and more prone to accept the unsupported claims of authoritarian figures'.

We have seen this research before, and it couldn't be more true than in the instant rush to the brexit party, without any thought, by leavers.

They weren't 'betrayed' they never had a clue in the first place.

There's been plenty of silly, arrogant stuff from both the EU and the UK. The danger of taking this chaps approach is that a lack of any compromise will result in a pure remain or leave situation, and by the behaviour of the government I don't see the latter getting over the finishing line.

Getting an imperfect deal over the line, at least results in leaving in some fashion and that can then be adjusted down the line. It also helps to adjust thinking to a point where many realise that the sky isn't going to collapse around them, hence making the idea of being outside of the EU more popular with the national as a whole.

There is a danger in all of the current dithering and desire for a perfect and precise outcome that the moment is missed.

Another example that proves my point. Why don't you just give it a rest. The total arrogance of some posters ohn ere beggars belief.
Interested to know where the researchers and "volunteers" were from.
