Any new leader of the Tory party that takes a harder line on Brexit would just make things worse. Don't forget that Parliament now control the agenda and they aren't going to vote for a no deal Brexit now or at anytime soon. If we held a GE then the Tories would be slaughtered, Farage would get some seats, so would UKIP but not enough all together to form a coalition. We would likely end up with a bigger split than now but with Labour as the biggest party and looking for partners. We mustn't go there.
