I do think this is a difficult window to do the right business in. Clubs are less inclined to let good players leave half way through a season. It’s also an inflated market during January, so there is very real prospect of getting just 1/2 players for the cost of 3 in the summer. If you were running your own business, you would potentially try to make it to the summer and make bigger better improvements that stand you in good stead. This is panic market time, you may see other clubs spending money, but that’s money they won’t have in the summer. Sometimes, loans coming in January are not the worst idea. They don’t damage the budget too much, and they see you through to the summer…and a busy summer it will have to be. You’d imagine the club will be looking to sign at least 6 players. I’m still a fan at the end of the day. I don’t get excited by loan signings, but I do see the need and the place for them. I’d love us to sign some exciting up and coming players to inject some speed and grit into central midfield…fingers crossed! If it doesn’t happen this month, I’m really confident we will have a busy exciting summer of additions.

Thank you so much. That sounds like it was written by someone for whom English is not their first language; are you sure it's legit? Anyway, as the minutes tick by our metaphorical arousal softens and the hopes of a happy ending grow weaker. Please Mr. Textor, grab the hand cream and "bring much more to our heart club on its evolution".

The list of clubs that have come up and gone down again is endless. 10 years in the prem for a club our size is quite an achievement. We were a yoyo club but we now have stability. We have had cup runs with trips to Wembley. The ground is pretty much full every week regardless of the previous results. And as for the ground being a s***hole. It may well be but its our S***hole. Rather that than the soulless stadiums some clubs have. PTID Edited by The groover (26 Jan 2023 11.24am)

When you see that Everton are saying that Gordon is £60m you understand that there is little value in the Jan window, unless you get someone from left field (no pun intended). Loans make more sense.

This is panic market time I agree with your post BUT the reason we need to dig into the market now, at arguably the worst possible time, is because (outside Doucoure's signing), the board failed so miserably to provide what the manager needed in the better market last summer. In short, the board made its own bed by failing to act at the right time; now they're having to lie in it by being under pressure to act at the wrong time. I don't have much sympathy for them as a result. Based on our failure to address obvious squad limitations when we had plenty of time to do so last summer, I can't see why you'd be optmistic we'll perform better in this summer's window. Our board/owners (whoever they are now or in the future) need to take a long, hard, look at themselves and their approach to budgeting. It's not helping the club to progress as it presently stands.

Not replaced PVA since he left. Mitchell Its has been badly run, partically when Pardew was here, and we are still paying for that, we are a mid table club with limited resources unless we get a sugar daddy, Edouard was a poor signing by PV 94k a week on a 4 year contract, thats 36m over 4 years with transfer fee, thats a joke that isn't funny
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |
