Zelensky seems remarkably confident he doesn't even want to concede Crimea. Son, its Russian already and that's the way the people there want it. He must know something we don't know. It is not long ago it was Russian speaking people in the Donbass fleeing across the border into Russia and there are mass graves with Russians in them there with UN observers there, from the 8 years of little-known civil war. So what if Zelensky wins and this area returns to Ukrainian while their population is overwhelmingly Russian? If Russia prevails then it just creates another east west confrontational border will we see NATO there? This is a bloody show alright and its difficult to see any future that could be peaceful at all. A ploughmans and a pint are in order.

If nothing else, neutrality would create a few hundred miles of buffer between east and west forces. I suppose we still don’t know what the terms are that would bring peace in the region so until then I guess we just watch and hope Putin doesn’t lose his marbles completely. Ploughman’s and a pint, a bit racey for a Monday! Soup and two day old bread for me.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Ukraine is preparing fake allegations about Russian violence with help of British intelligence, Russia claims "Russia has claimed that Ukraine, with the help of British intelligence, is preparing new fake allegations about Russian violence against civilians. "New false staged provocations accusing the armed forces of the Russian Federation of allegedly cruel treatment of the population of Ukraine are being prepared by the Kyiv regime under the leadership of British special services on the territory of the Sumy region," Russia's defence ministry said. Russian forces have been accused of committing war crimes in Ukraine - something it has repeatedly denied. " More projection style bull$hit for the home crowd and anti Western types.

"Russian foreign minister says Russia's war with Ukraine is 'meant to put an end' to US world domination, NATO expansion" Reason for the war number 724. What happened to 'denazifying; Ukraine? Though of course ironically the founder of Wagner Group (Putins mercenaries) and co are covered in neo nazi tattoos and plaster symbols and nazi ideology all around [Link] What a tangled web they weave. "In our time, political speech and writing are largely the defence of the indefensible. Thus political language has to consist largely of euphemism, question-begging and sheer cloudy vagueness. Defenceless villages are bombarded from the air, the inhabitants driven out into the countryside, the cattle machine-gunned, the huts set on fire with incendiary bullets: this is called pacification. Millions of peasants are robbed of their farms and sent trudging along the roads with no more than they can carry: this is called transfer of population or rectification of frontiers. People are imprisoned for years without trial, or shot in the back of the neck or sent to die of scurvy in Arctic lumber camps: this is called elimination of unreliable elements."

just seeing that at a time when people are being told to minimise air travel/car journeys and to buy green,..the UK is trying to facilitate fighter jets being given to Ukraine and also providing 120 armoured vehicles. I hope the planes are running on unleaded, and that the armoured vehicles are some kind of dual-fuel eco hybrid. That is of course, assuming they don't have enough charging points to go full electric.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

At least these particular ones aren't likely to be used against us by terrorists at a later date.

"President Putin has made a rare public appearance alongside the leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, and described Russia's military goals in Ukraine as noble. He said peace talks had reached a dead end, saying Ukraine had made "fake claims" about war crimes and extended demands for security guarantees. Meanwhile Lukashenko said allegations of atrocities in northern Ukraine were "a psychological operation carried out by the English"" Further bullsh!t

Does that mean we have? I genuinely don't know. But I would never just dismiss such claims.

Our government certainly has the ability to lie, but there has been so much verifiable, self interested nonsense from the Kremlin during this invasion, from motivation, to fact that it's evening happening. They have (and continue to) attacked towns and cities on multiple fronts and so countless war crimes and civilian deaths are bound to happen along the way. Drone footage of the massive levels of destruction offer a big picture that propoganda can't hide. They can't play victim while this is going on. I certainly typically believe my country over Russia unless there is a very good reason not to. Just my view of course!
