And every country will or will have to do it. If the oldies stay alive their savings will be worth a lot less so I guess that’s their financial price for the government keeping them alive. I hope it works but I’m sceptical unless it works with us all worldwppaying £25 for a cut loaf. People have been saying QE would be stagflationary since 2008.....and it has been exactly the opposite. Everything about the current crisis and its consequences are deflationary, for a few years yet as well. Old economic rules haven't been working properly for more than a decade now.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

One bloke on Sky news made me laugh unintentionally. Middle aged chap walking along Brighton seafront he says, ‘’People just have to stay in.’’ Brilliant. I can imagine being holed up somewhere for ages going against this lucky chap who either lives within a few minutes of the seafront and Sky are being mischievous, or he lives nowhere near and he’s a hypocrite.

I have not seen this featured on 'Sky News' but I reside near the seafront (Not Brighton!) and visited the local beach. The tide was out this afternoon and there were people walking on the sand well away from the shore and groines, keeping their distance from one another. On the local roads, there were more people walking than normal perhaps due to the weather but people were taking the effort to adhere to the social-distancing instructions by moving well out of the way when necessary.Apropos traffic movements, I saw the odd car, a bus and a post van so all very quiet on the roads. All very pleasant and civilised down my 'Neck of the woods'.No Police car in sight! Edited by Willo (04 Apr 2020 8.03pm)

Edited by Willo (04 Apr 2020 8.03pm) Where I live in Beckenham we have at least 5/6 public parks within easy walking distance, they are not crowded because there is plenty of choice. Imagine living on the 21st floor in a bedsit in the middle of an inner city estate and there is only one park in the vicinity. I am fortunate but this lockdown for some folk must be really oppressive. Edited by Badger11 (04 Apr 2020 8.27pm)

Edited by Badger11 (04 Apr 2020 8.27pm) My daughter, husband and baby reside in Beckenham and frequent Beckenham Place Park for their daily exercise. I can fully appreciate that it must be intolerable for those who are in a less fortunate position.
