Trump has brought the longest shutdown of government in the USA. How does he do it as this would be vastly beneficial in the UK.

More fake news this last few days. 1. 'Native American man mocked by schoolchildren in Trump 'MAGA' hats' A complete lie. The full video showed a bunch of kids were being abused by a black militant group before a Native American walked into the group banging his drum. A kid wearing a MAGA hat is vilified after he simply SMIRKED at him after someone with the Native American was saying, "go back to Europe where you came from. This is not your land". Yet the kid is the bad guy, for being white? The children have since been threatened and doxxed by doing nothing wrong. No correction on Sky News or the BBC. 2. 'Donald Trump ‘ordered lawyer Michael Cohen to LIE to Congress about his part in Moscow Trump Tower project – and planned Putin visit during 2016 campaign’ [Link] Again, more fake news from a Buzzfeed story. That reputable news outlet... US special counsel Robert Mueller has since said it is a total lie. Edited by Penge Eagle (22 Jan 2019 4.22pm)

Why don't Americans want the wall? I had a brief look and couldn't find a reason. Is it just because it's trumps idea?

The fall of the Berlin Wall remains a beacon of hope and a day of celebration. Walls in this context are lasting symbols of hatred and division. And he wants to build an even bigger one... in a liberal democracy? They also cost $billions of public money where the public don't want to spend that money. Remember, 2 elections where more people voted against him than for him. Our democracy is skewered by FPTP; there's by that equally undemocratic college system thingy. That said, you may have a point. People hate Trump so much that if his administration somehow discovered a magic wand that would cure all disease and mental illness, the public would still vote against it.

The Berlin wall separated Germans from Germans. A wall is simply an effective method of border security and Mexico has a higher crime rate. Is the front door of your house a 'lasting symbol of hatred and division' and if not tell me how it's different. Edited by Stirlingsays (28 Jan 2019 10.34am)

Our democracy is skewered by FPTP; there's by that equally undemocratic college system thingy. Trump wants just 5bn dollars for the wall which is peanuts in the overall budget. Especially when the cost of illegal immigration is 135bn dollars a year. [Link] Quote

The Dems know that if Trump builds the wall, then it will increase his chances of re-election and massively decrease his chances if he doesn't. The Dems have always spoke of increased fencing at the border because it always has been an issue to the American people. Walls have proven to work - just look at the parts of the border where the wall is secure. But the Dems also oppose it mainly because illegal immigrants are Dem voters!

Haters seem to forget (or don't know?) that the 'Wall' was backed by many in the recent past inc Bush, Obama and Clinton.
