Ah, come on. 100 UKIP supporters being assessed to see what it is they have in common upstairs? I'd find it bloody interesting tbh. Did someone say stereotype?
I suppose it would be very interesting to ask 100 middle class liberals who have opted out of living in mixed race areas, but who continually pontificate about how others should live their lives, what they would really think if a family of Somali's moved in next door to their house or a long term unemployed family with 6 kids, 3 dogs (the pit ill variety not the Paris Hilton variety), 2 ASBO's and a spent conviction for GBH were housed on their road by the social. I bet the results would very contradictory to those views espoused on message boards.
BTW. Still waiting for you response on education policies...
You have bored me to tedium too many times and there are far more interesting ways I can spend my time than 'debate' matters with you. Jog on.
Aren't you meant to be teaching?

Like I said, I'm not angry, because your views aren't balanced I don't really care what you think. I will however react against misrepresentation and unethical posts. I quite like Legal as a poster as though he was wrong to imply racism, As far as I remember the argument was that he said that he hadn't implied that....I didn't agree but was happy to move on. He's a good poster who it's fun to debate with. he was right about my cultural preferences.....But then again they aren't anything I've ever hidden...I written about them several times, even in this thread. What seems to be the case to me is that if something doesn't fit your own prejudices you don't accept it. Again, there isn't much point to you being on a debating forum. As for foreigners not belonging here....Maybe you should take the hint from the actual meaning of the word.......As for foreigners being here....That's fine, we are all foreigners when we go on holiday or work abroad.....But it should be in reasonable numbers for several different reasons. As for this egalitarian attitude to believing that foreigners should access everything a national accesses. Nope not for me.....And not for most people in the country.
As to ethnicity issues,as you yourself say above,I was "right about my cultural preferences.....But then again they aren't anything I've ever hidden...I written about them several times, even in this thread." Precisely!Your cultural preferences,as you put it,relate to issues around ethnicity. So,by all means disagree with me about the actual issues, but I hope you have finally got the point now and won't seek again to deflect away from the actual debate by suggesting accusations of racism where there plainly aren't any.
In your posts after this implication you said that there was a difference between racism and...as you put it... 'being averse to differing "ethnicity"'. Personally I believe that attempting to describe there being a practical difference is simply playing with words. I view a person who is averse to differing ethnicity as a pretty fair description of a racist. I come from a family that's part Irish/Scottish/Italian and yet I regard myself as English....To be English itself is to come various inputs from northern Europe. As I've said, my issue with foreigners coming into the country is mainly.....significant cultural difference and the impact on life opportunities for the least able in society. If a person's ethnicity was the driving force I wouldn't accept any foreigners here....which is ridiculous and I don't actually know anyone like that...I'm sure they are out there but I don't know them. This country has always accepted immigrants for example...It's a proud tradition....It's about the numbers and how it affect social cohesion and opportunities for those who's birthright is here. If you still feel I have misrepresented you....Well I certainly apologize but I certainly feel that this is what you did to me.....It's certainly true that you started it all.

Yes, we need to make sure there are jobs and services for people who come here, and that the host community are looked after too, but to be English is to be part of, and made up of, the world. That's what makes us so great

I josh of course. Enjoy yer half term Have you ever considered teaching abroad Nick?.....I've considered teaching in Japan....I've got a mate out there now teaching English. I should add that teaching in Japan is only done on a work permit basis....As it should be....And by teaching English in rural Japan you aren't taking a job that a native could do or driving down wages for them. Anyway that out of the way I have considered it....Probably too old now. Edited by Stirlingsays (17 Feb 2015 12.29am)

Not just northern Europe old chap. We English are made of broader stock than that. The great thing about us is we're made up of peoples from all over the world, all living together on one little island. Yes, we need to make sure there are jobs and services for people who come here, and that the host community are looked after too, but to be English is to be part of, and made up of, the world. That's what makes us so great
To be English is to be born here.....Though I'll accept someone who wants to become English and works at adapting and accepting the norms of the majority culture can become English.....That's more than the Japanese would for example. Something tells me that we wouldn't agree on what being English means. That's ok....Tolerance is apart of the culture.
