I would not say that arguing for a country to have self determination is "non existent". Try that with our former colonies who fought for and won independence from what they saw as a remote, centralising and undemocratic organisation. Likewise I can see the merits of arguing for a union of nations on a continent that had 3 major conflicts in the spate of 100 years largely due to a form of nationalism. However not every country on that continent feels the need to join the EU and I think as our history and to some extent culture differs it doesn't work for us either. Edited by Badger11 (09 May 2019 10.28am) There are good arguments to not have an EU and not be part of it but not strong enough arguments to withdraw from the EU. Where we are now proves that. The referendum was given with a recommendation to remain and no provision was made for a leave scenario, ie positive economic forecasts, the benefits of switching to self governance, how separate trade deals would be more advantageous and social benefits. The decision to leave was only through scepticism.

The government The Remain side failed to explain the benefits of the EU to the majority of the people. They ran a negative campaign which the more sensible Remainers now recognise. Still just because they got it wrong doesn't entitled them to another go lots of politicians can argue that in hindsight they would do things differently. My postal vote has just arrived and I have voted for The Brexit Party. Or as some would say "Hard Cheese"

They ran a remain campaign because remain is the best option and most of the negatives of leaving in the government literature were spot on For me to vote leave I'd want to see a plan, hard evidence of economic prosperity and blueprint for the future. I'm not as easily seduced by the snake oil salesmen like Farage I'm afraid but good luck anyway

Vince Cable retiring shortly, always found him a decent type. Not really the language I would expect from the snowflake party.

Didn't receive the literature then? Well, in that case, the government spent a lot of money telling us how to vote and we stuck two fingers up to them and the EU.
