Could well be a domino effect happening but needs somebody to get the ball rolling. However we might well not be in the mix, Sakho to WBA, Benteke to Spammers, Berahino to Stoke, leaving us with Crouch

Think we have missed the boat again here, as it's being reported that not only West Ham are showing renewed interest but Chelsea also. A shortage of quality strikers around pushes up prices and £32.5m probably now looks to be a reasonable fee. Of course we don't know what his wages are and this may have been the stumbling block..... Who knows?? Probably hear something imminently; either way would be good!

Let's hope that when the dominoes start to full we are in the mix. If not we have other targets, possibly away from the EPL in Europe. May not be as inflated as the fees at home, such as Ben Yedder goin to Sevilla for a reported 9 million euros and the young guy, Jannsen joining Spurs. Obviously we can't offer Champs League football but there must be other possibilities out there. COYP !! Edited by Booted Eagle (31 Jul 2016 12.27pm)

Last night I overhead a chap saying that we are spending far too much time and effort chasing unrealistic targets in terms of strikers adding that the quality of strikers we are after are not interested coming to a club of our standing when other more established clubs are showing an interest.

Obvious worry is that if Sakho goes from West Ham to West Brom, then West Ham might be in for Benteke and if Berahino prefers Stoke to Palace then we will be left standing at the corner of the disco at the last chorus of the last smoochy song of the evening waiting for the "right moment" to ask for a dance. However, the problem seems to me to have been stagnation in the Striker situation - if our primary targets go elsewhere then we can get on with our secondary targets - so it is all good news as far as I can see. Notwithstanding that we will be left metaphorically laying in bed alone, wondering what would have happened if we had asked for a dance ten minutes earlier.

Papers seem to think the Prem player West Ham are after is Ayew from Swansea for £20m+.

Ultimately we are not a fashionable team, and the business we have done so far is outstanding, the problem is the money being silly this season and a lack of true stricter quality to better what we have, I'm confident we will pick up one or two strikers soon but I feel benteke is starting to look like a bridge to far (hope I'm wrong) I am really happy, nay overjoyed buy our transfer business so far and benteke could have been / will be, the icing on the cake, I have 109% faith in Parish and co

The super rich Chelsea ManU ManC to name a few may be buying players to prevent them joining rivals hence a 25 million player may not actually play football for them or seldom. (stock-piling). That would be disaster for us but doesn't seem to worry the moneybags Premier League. I think they should form a premier super league for them - Palace and others would be in a premier league and able to compete equally and 1 slot for promotion/relegation. Just an idea any thoughts?
