That is a typical misunderstanding of the role of an MP. They aren't delegates who go to Parliament to do what we have told them. They are representatives whose job it is to use their collective wisdom to reach decisions which they believe are in our best interests. Our job is to choose who we want to represent us. That's all. If they don't meet our expectations then we choose another the next time. You'd sing a different tune if they were being c***s over something you didn't agree with.

Hiding behind technicalities again. Do you honestly believe that the government held a referendum intending to ignore the result? None of this conversation would be taking place if Remain had won. There is nothing hidden. Neither British democratic practice nor the law are "technicalities". Of course the government didn't intend to ignore the result but the government are ultimately in the hands of the Parliament as has so comprehensively been proven. The world has turned a few times since the referendum and things are not looking the same. We all know more, not least the MPs. You are quite right though. THIS conversation would not have taken place if Remain had won but another would be. Farage, who expected to lose, had already stated that the battle would go on. So don't try to pretend that those who voted Leave are some kind of martyrs being denied their "democratic" rights. This is British democracy in action and it's good to see Parliament doing it's job and not kowtowing to the government, messy though it is.

As I have only recently been sucked in to responding here again because of the crap being posted, and will soon withdraw again, that's another load.

I keep hearing this dribble. "Vote them out" It isn't dribble. It's fact, but we all have to accept, you included, that other opinions might prove stronger than ours and that is the time it actually matters.

Yes. It seems this is a community centre and not simply a place of worship. I had noticed that it got very busy at a particular time and thought it was a Saturday. As there were lots of kids there it might have been but if it was for prayers then it was probably on Fridays. I will take more notice now.

You claim that you have spent years abroad in Asia, are widely traveled, and love diversity.....Yet you didn't even know that the holy day of the week for Muslims is Friday? It's difficult to take your claims very seriously or view your opinions on morality seriously when you were happy for news of those Islamic rape gangs to be suppressed for your perverse idea of a greater good.....that suppression prevented action. This goes along with your selective views on how democracy should work. Where you clearly think the public should be paying the wages of elites to ignore national referendum results......when they were promised that the result would be acted upon. Tell you what....If Corbyn wins the next election....Lets have a vote in the parliament and see if they think they should allow Corbyn to take over or not. If they vote no....that's fine, because they don't have to listen to the public if they don't like the result do they. Edited by Stirlingsays (27 Apr 2019 12.38pm)
