I have noticed an increasing use of current American slang terminology creeping into use in these threads.

Terms such as "NPC", "gammon" and "libtard". These are meaningless epithets being used by the conservative side of the very divided US political scene about their Democratic opponents.

Text speak has been banned here for years, presumably because it is regarded as a poor way to communicate and is somewhat childish.

I think the same ought to apply to the use of American slang. We are English. Let's be proud of our language and not ruin it with these aberrations.

What are the opinions of others?

No problems about USA language at all.
God bless the USA

I have no idea what you are talking about and I rather suspect nor do you.

Finding practical solutions is not a game and seeking to score points very childish indeed. Anything suggested would need to be legally acceptable and I am not a lawyer.

By the way I did not say what incentives should be provided or where they should be directed, only that some kind of interventions could be made to help steer things towards a desired consequence.

All I am doing is trying to move the conversation away from complaining about things and towards finding ways to make things better.

You did say that but you are a good snooker player.
There are reams of suggestions on how to make things better but you've objected to every one!

Someone tell the NPC that I live in Wisbech, which suffers from high EU immigration....which he should know.

I also grew up on a council estate in Stockwell, Brixton and witnessed plenty of violence and I spent some of my twenties in Catford, Bermondsey and Lewisham. I'm working class and have lived smack in the middle of these problem areas most of my life.

I don't talk out of my arse about the problems like he does.

Everything I stated applies to him.....a utter hypocrite.

He needs his nose rubbed into the multiculturalism which he supports yet lives away from. Talking utter tripe while living in a nice homogeneous area.

He could have moved to these diverse areas yet the proof is in the pudding.

He should be put there, right in the middle of Savile Town and not allowed to leave.

Someone tell the self righteous user of meaningless American slang that I lived in the same town for 12 years so know the environment well. As he knows full well the primary gripe in these threads is about Islamic immigration and not that from eastern Europe of which there is a lot in Wisbech. I have 3 guests from eastern Europe staying with me right at this moment.

I grew up on a council estate in Croydon and have lived in Coventry and High Wycombe along with several other places during my life. I have also travelled extensively and seen more than enough to form opinions.

I was certainly born working class but who knows what that really means in 2019.

My opponent claims not to talk out of his arse! Well that really is a matter of opinion and mine is very different. He seems incapable of coping with alternative opinion without resorting to either insult or attempts at belittlement. That truly is the mark of the self righteous.

Where I choose to live is no business of anyone else nor does it stop me from contributing to debates on any subject of my choosing. No-one is compelled to read them let alone feel the need to react to them.

If anyone should be required to go to Savile town and defend his views there it isn't me.

Reams?

Tell me a few.

Encouraging people like "Robinson " is not a solution. That just adds to the problem.

So let's hear some real solutions

What kind of fool compares growing up on a council estate in Croydon in the fifties and early sixities with Stockwell in the eighties.

Oh yeah, a deluded NPC.

As for Eastern European immigration into Wisbech....granted its form is far better than what would happen in Savile Town and even what is currently happening in Peterborough only twenty miles away.....However, we had too much immigration here and plenty have moved away.

I certainly am self righteous when it comes to tackling the comment of a deluded NPC who advocates for downgrading the practical lives of working class people...when he doesn't have to live with the consequences....all for his own ideological fantasies.....It fills me with contempt.

As for Savile Town....No NPC I didn't support what happened to that town. That was the doing of people like you with your absurd notions of multiculturalism....which don't work on large scales.

You get to live there, not me. I don't defend how it came to be, that's your politics, not mine.

But it's not even true is it? Forgetting the spotty, nerdy 13 year old teenager's acronym he takes the time to pick apart your posts. You lot just don't like what he says.

Anyway, I have work to do, unlike some people apparently.

It's childish and demeaning.

Those who use such language have run out of real answers so have to resort to the bully boy tactics they first learned in the playground. Such people cannot tell the difference between what is true and what is their own prejudice. Sad!

Secularism will eventually triumph, of that I am certain. Education and logic ensure that is so.

Maybe not in our lifetimes, but it will.

What makes you think that? London certainly does not look less religious than it did when Blair took over. I also see many more people in very, shall we say "conservative" looking attire. "Conservative" for some religions equates to "extremist". Many countries have banned this way of dressing for this reason including countries where some of those people originate. There are many other examples of religious behavior that either constitute serious crimes in UK law (child mutilation for example) or antithetical to western values (ritual slaughter for example) but are ignored or swept under the carpet of diversity.

A certain highly resurgent religion seems to be antithetical to change or reformation (it being perfect and unchangeable as caste in scripture) and arguably going backwards in this respect i.e. The young people seem to be the most "conservative".

How does logic apply to this and how will education help and not make this worse when we now have large numbers of faith schools that promote this going unchecked due to the usual special privileges they receive? We refuse to even investigate foreign funding of some of these institutions which is severely open to question given the obvious wealth and global reach of these countries and their ideologies.

I guess more relevant to you is What happens when this starts to affect Cornwall?
