Does anyone else check the BBC transfer gossip page for Benteke rumours first thing every morning? Been doing it for weeks now. Even before I've had a shower. It's so ingrained now, God knows what I'll do if he actually signs. No, I check on here. Then I get excited when there's 3 or 4 unchecked paged on the thread. The excitement subsides though when I realise that half of the posts are people saying "That brings up page 146 " and "Is this longer than the Bellyman thread yet?". When the disappointment then sinks in that there actually hasn't been a genuine link posted for about 40 pages and the season is going to start in a couple of weeks with Bolasie up front, I go and check the Berahino thread in desperation. He'll sign if there are another 130 pages on the thread. Sure if it. We've done poems, what about some sort of choreographed dance routines, posted as video link and designed to represent the excitement and frustration of hoping and waiting for a big money striker to sign. After that maybe some pictures of cakes, baked to entice him to sign with supportive messages like "hurry up and sign you muppet". It will then only be a matter of time, no doubt.

Did he??? do you know that for a fact, like everything else that £27m may well be all media hype, like everyone else on this site I've seen or heard no evidence of this £27m offer from Palace. Quite the opposite including the players agent refuting the claims.

My theory is this... Parish is a shrewd businessman and is 'playing the game' with his offers for Benteke. He's not the type to just agree to Liverpool's over valuation and pay over the odds just because he wants him at Palace, although it's obvious he does want him. I'd guess he made the original offer of £25m to 'test the waters' and then when they counter offered and said they wanted the £32.5m they paid for him we then increased to £27m up front with £4.5m in add ons taking the total to £31.5m, which again was rejected. Parish then walked away and concentrated on the USA tour and made a £20m offer for Berahino making Liverpool sweat as to whether we'll come back with another offer as no one else seems interested or at least willing to pay their high demands. What ever agents or media report they will not want him sitting in their bench earning £130k/week or whatever the reports suggest that just makes no sense from a business point of view. Over the past 2 weeks, since it's all gone quiet, Liverpool have identified a few new transfer targets they are after, Moura, Mario, Willems, Meyer etc. In order to fund one or two of these they will need to sell a big name player to raise funds and so when Parish comes back with one final offer next week I expect they will except and all being well we'll see Benteke holding up the mighty red n blue shirt some time next week! Parish finally gets his man for a figure between what both clubs ideally wanted but without being forced to pay the asking price! Shrewd businessman never pay full asking prices and always like to negotiate and get what they feel is 'value for money'. Watch this space... Just one question; how is it that the supposed negotiating genius has failed (with possibly Wickham excepted) to sign a goal-scoring striker since we've been in the PL? Murray and Gayle are the closest we've come since SP's been in charge, and neither are here any more. If signing one crock after another is 'value for money' then I'd recommend trying paying the asking price and see how that goes.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

Plus we've only just had Josh Harris and David Blitzer come on board last season hence why we are now able to offer huge sums of money for one player. It still doesn't mean just because we have the money we'll go and offer over the odds for players it's all about negotiation skills snd value for money in their eyes.

With berahino now willing to see out contract, and Chelsea bidding for lukakau, I can see everton using the money to buy benteke. If we seriously want CB, we need it sorted by next week. So at least can play in the Valencia game.

This is worrying maybe I'm reading between the lines but I think the second striker he's referring to is mr benteke .......WEST HAM 'CLOSE' ON STRIKER(S) What's the latest West Ham transfer news? Joint-chairman David Sullivan has given a handy update on the official website and suggests two strikers could be arriving soon. "We are very close to bringing in a very promising striker who has scored goals regularly in his career in competitive leagues," he says. "He will need time to settle, like every new player, but we are confident he will add a lot to the squad. "We are also talking to another Premier League club about a top-class international forward, but the discussions over financial terms still have some way to go.
