From the article "he has been filmed making remarks including “Somalis are backward barbarians”, calling British Muslims “enemy combatants who want to kill you, maim you and destroy you”, and claiming refugees are “raping their way through the country”. When a tiny percentage of the population is responsible for a large proportion of certain crimes, it is bound to produce resentful attitudes toward that group. Especially when they have been welcomed to your country and in many cases are probably living in accommodation paid for by your taxes. It is odd that people like you focus on the attitudes that it produces rather than the crimes. I guess that is the difference between you and me.

Enemy combatants where from a particular road he pointed at from a know troubled area. NOT ALL MUSLIMS. 1400 child rapes in Rotherham says it all on your last point.

The real issue is not about who is standing in these Euro elections but the fact they are happening at all. We voted to Leave. Parliament enacted the process by which they should happen on March 29th yet here we are, past that date, and debating about candidates who may or may not go to Brussels. This is insanity. An absolute breakdown in our democratic process. And what happens when votes are ignored. We will be voting in a Zombie election. So lets not all get to het up about the monsters involved. Instead, lets ask ourselves why we are even having to contemplate it. Edited by Matov (26 Apr 2019 1.05pm)

We actually agree on this. I think the problem here is that we don't really experience, for example, Christian extremism of the kind that threatens us. However. we do experience Islamic extremism here in Britain and worldwide. It's obvious that when one group in society produces extremists that threaten life and lifestyle then that group as a whole will be treated with suspicion and some resentment. It is purely about self-preservation. To start yelling racist is anti intellectual. It shows no understanding of the natural human desire to protect and feel safe from perceived danger. All Irish Catholics were not in the IRA but back in the dark times, an Irish accent in England was reason enough for suspicion. Such an attitude was born from self preservation and the knowledge that extremist had sympathisers who would never deliver a bomb themselves but probably knew someone who might. It had nothing to do with 'racism' then and it doesn't now. I am partly Irish but I was no different back then. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (26 Apr 2019 12.36pm) It's always nice to find some agreement among the thorns of disagreement! There is much that I too can agree with in your post. My concern though is not so much about the terminology as the effects. Understanding why some people feel uncomfortable only means we need to find ways to reassure them. Using rabble rousing rhetoric is not going to do that. It is likely to incite the already uncomfortable to become more so, and raise the possibility of direct confrontation with others who are actually no threat and cause further divisions. This is why I oppose Robinson and those who flock to his banner.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

There is actually a very interesting and diverse environment here but although my home is here I still travel a lot and will soon be back in Asia for a while. According to the last census Cornwall is 95.7 percent white. It is roughly 1 percent Asian. As for a Mosque.....Aren't you talking about the 'Cornwall Islamic Community Centre'?

Actually surprised about asia where racism is rife amongst locals and a lot of expats!

Yeah, I suspect Hrolf doesn't know about your support for the behaviour of the authorities in suppressing news around the rapes by Islamic rape gangs. You talk about opposing division when you actually create the division yourself.

(and not all just potentially given the number of thwarted attacks?). Some of these have come back fully trained from ISIS. "A 2011 analysis by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command of 940 possible offenders reported for "street grooming and child sexual exploitation" found that 38% were white, 36% were Asian, while 32% were of an unknown ethnicity" Do you see a problem with these figures? In short how bad do things have to get before we are entitled by your standards to be worried? People are not looking for scapegoats, they just want to be able to discuss this without being labelled which is what TR is trying to achieve?

We have Muslims pouring into this country year after year and producing children who are at risk of radicalisation. You can't just dismiss these concerns just because you believe that certain individuals use the situation to push their own type of radicalism. In a previous post, you said the world would be better without religion. I 100% agree. But that is not going to happen in the foreseeable future and nor is cultural harmony. There is no way that things will ever change. This country like so many other parts of the world will become a battleground for the young and deluded while the elites that created it laugh and pour another glass of Champagne.
