This from someone who thinks London is still a great place to live? That’s taking delusion to self hypnotic levels. Thanks for the entirely irrelevant ad homein on where I live - great stuff. Quality debate. I couldn’t care less about a round of applause; merely highlighting the laughable levels of hypocrisy that some show.

So lets break it down. On principle America works by democracy, trump was democratically elected. Trump has a principle to stop illegal border activity. I think it's a bad principle to stop a president trying to protect America. I think his primary goal is to get elected and the so called principles are the tactics employed to win votes, create this scenario where the country is failing and under threat and he is the super hero who will save the day. Since you're an expert I was wondering regarding making America great again, why wasn't it great before and is it great again now?

It’s hilarious the outrage from Brexiters when you dare to challenge their intelligence, but a post like the above deserves a round of applause - do you genuinely not see your own hypocrisy? “The thrill of being anti” is something I would consider far more applicable to the right. Anyone who believes their ‘side’ is superior, be it morally or intellectually, is frankly living in delusion. As the left continues to skew further and further left and overtly socialist/Marxist/communist commentators dominate the mainstream the right will hold the moral high ground. Socialism is now the establishment default position and conservatism is now the counter culture.

It's not about the left and the right, it's about class and it's about the disaster of globalism that's been pushed on the masses.
For me the great political/moral and any and every other conept you want to envisage, is how it is managed in terms of maintaining the notion of the nation state which does offer, badly I concede, still the best organisational structure for the individual to still have a semblance of control over their own life. I am as guilty as most in terms of this increasingly 20th century definition of left & right, with an unholy influence of dead Germans proving seemingly more malignent by the year but we all need to face up to the reality of the world as it is, not how we would like it to be. Throw in the increasing influence, whether we like to admit it or not, of technology over almost every aspect of our lives and what some long dead Kraut, writing in long-hand by the light of a gas lamp, may or may not have thought becomes increasingly irrelevant. The mobile phone in almost all of our pockets, and often more than one, is the most obvious example of that. That single device gives all of us the ability to communicate with the vast majority of people on this planet from not only the comfort of our own homes but, even at its most expensive, for effectively peanuts. Those alone undermine almost all previous given political definites from the 20th century. We take them for granted but they are the means by which globalisation is now part of our everyday reality. There is no good or bad about that, merely just is. But the notion of a bloc such as the EU, which is when all said and done nothing more than a protectionist collective looking to secure industrys that are no longer economically viable along with a terrible fear of what Germany may or may not do in future becomes more and more anachronistic by the year. We live in a new age and yet we are governed by the politics of last century. That has yet to catch up and may well be the harbringer of it all collapsing around us.

I always thought in politics the left demonstrate against things(anti)- while the right demonstrates for things... E.g. the right voted for Brexit whereas the left demonstrate against it... Myself, I'm a remainer... living and working in Spain... Once out of Europe, we could have another referendum to get back in... Until then, put up or shut up...!!

If you viewed that as ad hominem then your own commentary is ad homeinem.....there is a difference between criticism and personal insult. Originally posted by EverybodyDannsNow

You ridiculed reaction to a post claiming hypocrisy and made a comment about 'superiority' with only your own opinion to back it up without actually highlighting anything from the post.
