Britain celebrates its Empire days but how many of our forbears enjoyed the fruits of that era? Where was the trickle down for any of us? How were the majority of White people doing in Britain 300,400 years ago and beyond? Well in the 17th century, Britain was so awful for many that they risked life and limb to travel to America to start a new life. None of this is designed to underplay the evils of slavery, but to put it into a context where you see that the average White man of our past did not have privilege, was subject to oppression, religious intolerance, feudalism, servitude and often didn't even have a pot to piss in. I think we need to think beyond the details of this and see the bigger picture.
Some might think that the removal of statues and the banning of songs is OK because they seems like small but reasonable measures to placate one particular group.

They want more power. They want to take what they think they are entitled to by complaining about it. Soon they will be demanding it.
