Predominantly in the Championship unfortunately. I know he had a couple of seasons where he played a lot in the PL for Watford but they were hardly a roaring success.

I don't even think he's that great defensively, probably for the same reason as his passing not being great - he seems about half a yard behind the game. The number of times he goes flying in to a tackle and the other player nips it away before Hughes crashes into him is getting silly.

When he does a big booming tackle it's highlight reel stuff that sits in the memory, but the number of times he jumps in, gets beaten and the other team are at our back 4 leaves a lot to be desired.

Agree, he was never the fastest but is even slower now so the game just passes him by. His tackling is pretty shocking too and even yesterday he was lucky not to be booked (when he fouled Beto)

Worst possible result!! Replay and then Arsenal a few days later. Just pray no one gets injured.
I want Palace to be an ambitious club but to be honest I have no interest in the cup given our current dire league situation.
Do we really want a crack at Europe? On our current performances we wouldn't last 5 minutes. And the thought of some of those maniac violent mobs coming to Selhurst doesn't bear thinking about.
Sorry if that sounds negative.

Whilst I agree his main strengths are out of possession, the numbers don't particularly support the notion that he can't pass;

He has a pass completion rate of 84% this season, which is actually a career best. Across his entire career he's averaged 79% pass completion.

For context; Lerma has an 81% pass completion rate this season, and a career average of 80%

Schlupp has 75% this season and a 73% average.

Doucoure has 87% this season and an 85% career average.

There is a more notable difference between how progressive those passes are though - Hughes, on average, progresses the ball about 142 yards per 90 with his passing. Lerma and Doucoure both sit at about 180 yards. Schlupp is at 57 yards per 90.

All of that suggests that Hughes is competent in keeping the ball but can struggle to break lines with forward passes, which I think is accurate.

Passing stats should not be viewed in isolation as most CBs have a high accuracy % as they usually just pass to each other or the keeper and rarely try a creative pass.

Most of our midfield have little or no creativity so rarely try the killer pass or even a diagonal one to the opposite winger.
When Hughes was asked to play at the head of the 3 CMs when Eze was injured his limitations were there for all to see. Too slow to join the attacks and not good enough on the ball to contribute creatively

We support our club through thick and thin but this dreadful game between two poor teams was a test of support. .
We looked out of it after 30 mins but at least started to show some intent after that.
Our midfield is toothless, Clyne (love him) cannot pass wind, Eze has moments of genius but is generally poor and not much good to a struggling team.
Our defence on the whole is excellent as is Henderson - he is better than Pickford at least.
Mateta looks to be getting better and is a handful and Franca needs a run of games because he will be excellent.
Please let us get at least a good midfield General in over the next few weeks.

Eze is a worry at the moment. When he has the ball i just want to see him running at his man, yet just often slows things down and makes a simple pass. He is the only one in that midfield who can do anything creative so i'd rather see him try and fail than not try. He still did good things yesterday but it was too infrequent for my liking.

As for his booking it was correct and completely unacceptable. What was he thinking. He needs to be careful as he is getting a reputation for going down too easily.

BBC say Monday 15 January.

If they have really said that, then they are wrong because Everton have a PL home game against Villa on Sunday 14th. It's more likely a case of a night in the week beginning Monday 15th. Bear in mind we have the 12.30 slot on 20th at the Emirates. I suspect Wednesday 17th will be the most likely date.

It’s very negative. One day we will be back in the lower divisions with nothing to show for our premiership stay. History is important for us older fans and I / we want cup success and Euro football to talk about before our game of bingo in the home ;-)

To paraphrase Jay-Z, we’ve got 99 problems but being remotely close to getting into Europe ain’t one

I mean that's precisely why I haven't used them in isolation nor compared him with any centre backs.

I'd imagine you'd see most players limitations when playing them out of position.

I believe they were the original lyrics however the record company asked him to change them as they viewed them as relatable only to a small audience in SE London.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I firmly believe that the players that we have available are better than the way that they are being told to play.
Another Manager would/could get more out of them.
I wouldn't say that Roy has lost the dressing room but I do not see them busting a gut to play for him either.
The thought of Arsenal away just 72 hours after a replay is scary!

Which is why I find it so bizarre they ended up only catering to specific dog kennels that only put down female breeds. But apparently that's where the rap money is at.

According to the bbc, they have the replay down for Mon 15th 20.00 ko. although it is still TBC.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.
