I would honestly think twice if I were Olise. Surely he has to question just how much game time will he actually get at Chelsea when he returns to fitness. I think he'd get more of a look in at City, which is a better organised winning machine compared to Chelsea.

Agree.
Olise, to Chelsea = benchwarmer.
But,if the player is determined to join their "project",why would we stand in his way and have a disgruntled player on our hands, particularly if a decent sale price can be agreed??

If I were Olise I would be looking at wilf and how he wanted to move for years and couldnt until his contract expired and only had turkey to go to.

I would be getting my move in while I am hot property and a decent bid in. Lack of playing time didint stop conor gallagher wanting play for chelsea.

And if it doesnt work out chelsea will let him go alot easier and a reduced fee after a year or two.

If players see we roll over too easily when approaches are made for them, we'll lose all our young stars very quickly. If a player signs a 5 year contract he has to expect that he may be held to keeping it.

Having said that young players coming to us on long contracts believe that we will be letting them go at a future time, However, both the price has to be right AND (and this is important) the timing has to be right from the club's perspective.

It seems there is something unusual about the Olise contract which would seem to put him in the driving seat judging by what Roy has said. However, if we have the ability to say no to a deal and we want to keep Olise for another year then we should unless we have a replacement lined up. We don't as JRS needs a year in the Championship before we can determine whether he will be ready for the first team next seaqson.

It is clear to see now that he has no buy out clause.

If Olise has no buyout clause why has Roy said in two interviews that I have watched that it is Olise's 'choice' as to whether he stays?
If there was no buyout clause Olise would not have a choice, and if wanted to leave he would have to ask for a transfer. In this case it would be within the club's gift to determine whether to accede to the request.

Wrong. Olise to Chelsea = Treatment Room(you do realise he's injured?)

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Because it is his choice. If Chelsea offer enough money and he wants to go, He will go. Fact not fiction.

If it was as straightforward as that Wilf would have gone a long time ago.
He made a number of attempts to leave but he was under a long and lucrative contract and the club ‘chose’ not to sell him.
If it was Wilf’s choice he would have gone, but the club had the final choice.

It is a fact that Olise had a clause in his Reading contract which enabled Palace to buy him in the first place.
Roy has said that ‘clubs are circling, ‘ that Olise ‘has a choice’ to make and ‘he hoped that Palace could persuade him to stay.’
Olise has a number of years on his contract and in a normal situation Palace would just say he’s not for sale and Olise would not have a choice unless an offer came in which Palace chose to accept ( I.e Palace’s choice not Olise’s).
It’s a fact of football life that buyout clauses are sometimes inserted in contracts whether we like it or not .
It can’t be proved either way whether there is a buyout clause in his contract in the absence of sight of the actual document.
However, on the balance of probabilities it seems likely that there is one.

would love Madueke, would be a fantastic direct replacement. Makes you wonder why they need Olise.

Madueke plays on the left whilst Olise plays on the right. Rumour is that Poch wants to play Olise in no.10 role which if true begs the question why they want Lavia when got Fernandez and Caicedo.

Although Olise is very good I've not really taken to him as I have with Eze (although I did want us to sign him for 18 months before we got him) and I also think he's quite fragile esp as still quite young and already having fair share of injuries.

I think it’s somewhere in between. It’s true he is Palaces player under contract until Palace say otherwise. There is always a big BUT, it rarely works out for club or player once the player makes it clear they want away, and that applies not just for Palace but everywhere. Roy knows if Olise, wants the move the likely hood is he goes. The trouble really starts if another club make a substantial offer, everything else just winds the player up, and that’s as much as is happening up to now.

The only club that we know for certain that was close to signing Wilf was Arsenal but they bought Pepe instead.
