Fair Comment Roy Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson to the BBC: "Sam Johnstone made some very good saves and that is to his great credit because he hasn't played a lot of matches. There is no doubt the fast start from Leeds, their aggression, it looked as if it would be a very tough afternoon but we did get through at period. At half-time the players sorted things out and we were much better in the second half.

"This was a good day. They won't be good days forever. If I was a younger, less cynical person I might be enjoying it more than I am because have an eye that we aren't clear of the relegation zone. I have to make certain the good things we did today we reproduce.

"In the second half we dominated in terms of the physical and running. It was a very, very encouraging performance. It is very hard in this league to win two in a row. We will congratulate ourselves on that but I hope the players understand you can't just relax and enjoy this until you are out of the mire

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson told Sky Sports: "The second half was very good in every respect. We had to weather a storm in the first half. We were struggling to come to terms with it. We got that equaliser which was worth its weight in gold.

“The second half was a different performance. We had a lot of control. The quality of players we have profited from the spaces opening in front of us. Leeds are an attacking side and players can’t be in two places at once.

"At half-time we were able to talk together and make it clear we needed more aggression. Leeds were more aggressive in the first half. We were being pegged back by that type of play. The players happily accepted it and did it in the second half. We earned the right to play some of that football.

"If I had to single out someone who doesn’t a lot of praise it would be Jordan Ayew. His work-rate helped us enormously. It put out a marker."

On what has changed since his arrival: "All you can do as a coach is give people the confidence to do the things you can see in training and not be affected by the noise outside and that things aren’t going your way. It’s not a magic wand type of situation.

"These players were good before I came to the club and they’re showing it again.

"It’s a perfect start. The training has been fantastic, the sun has been shining. It’s nice to be back. Everything couldn’t be better so far but I know there are different types of days ahead and one day I’ll be answering very different questions [after bad results]. I have to enjoy these moments as they won’t last forever."

We looked so fluent in second half but had to battle in the first and hang in there. What happened to Leeds? - their performance from the first half to the second half was unbelievable. They worked hard and denied us time and space on the ball for all the first half and then it was like they did not turn up in the second.
Eze and Olise had real end product today - hopefully a sign of good things going forward.
Happy as well Doucoure never looked like picking up a booking and we have establish some breathing space from the bottom 3.

Leeds played midweek and this does seem to affect teams more than we might think it would. Our equaliser knocked their confidence and with ours restored the game was turned on its head. Eze and Olise were encouraged to play with freedom. Then we took the chances rather than having near misses. The stars were aligned today. Think I’ll do the lottery!

Roy may have about 50 years more coaching experience than me , but I do think today is a day for an extra midfielder- either Lokonga or Hughes.
This would enable us to get up the field more through controlling midfield.
As I see it we now face a back to walls job with Ayew coming deeper and deeper and the forward players isolated without support.
Our only real threat could be from set pieces .

I hope I’m wrong.

You were!

I thought our goalie Johnstone was brilliant in first 20 mins. Kept us in the game.

Definitely played his part, imagine if we had gone 2 or 3 down without his saves, it would’ve been game over

I am numb after watching that. Like when your body shuts down after trauma. My usual go to post match routine - no moaning on the Relegation thread, kicking the cat, trying to remember when we last scored - what do I do now? Ah 🍻 🍻 🍻
What a f great day

That was rubbish, we'll be last on match of the day again (and we absolutely will!),

Absolutely fantastic. 1 nil down and under the cosh but there was no panic. What a joy it is to watch Eze and Olise playing like that. Schlupp was excellent. Ayew getting 2 goals and Johnstone deserves to hold onto that shirt now as he is a better all round keeper.

Brilliant stuff.

Loved the way wardy upped his game after his nonsense booking came crashing in to win headers which I think set up our second goal, not sure on that as we scored so many
