We must never forget that we are..Palace. Easily one of the most unpredictable teams to ever exist in English soccer (Apr1973-division1, Aug1974-division3. Beating Liverpool in the 1990 FA Cup SF after being thrashed 9-0 in the league a few months ago. etc.etc.) Vieira was appointed as 3rd or 4th choice to replace Roy and his ageing players with younger and more attacking minded ones and change the team's philosophy to an attack-orientated one. Due to some smart buys and MAINLY because of Connor Gallagher his first year was a success. If the board had followed the suggestion of Darren Ambrose to pay as much as they asked for Gallagher, things would be different today.
Anyway the fact is that Roy is the manager. with Paddy as his assistant. If we can be assured that Ward will never be in the starting eleven , especially when the opposite team has quick wingers, I wouldn't say that given the circumstances we had any other choice, not labelled as dangerous. Lets just hope that logic will prevail and in the end we will be looking forward to the 11th season in the premier league!

Seen probably as a desperate appointment, think Roy was our only option if we seriously wish to stay in the Premiership.
He brings a wealth of experience and will do just enough to keep us up this season.
Pleased to see Roy appointed in days rather than have to endure S P, endless casting the net for no hopers!!

Happy with this til the summer. Roy and Ray know the club and a lot of players and will be a safe pair of hands.

We will still be defensive but will at least carry a threat in the transition between defense and midfield (something we have lacked all season). I predict that Eze won't look as lost, Doucoure will play with a bit more composure and Eduard and Mateta will know to at least make the right runs.
He also had a good record against teams near the bottom of which we still have to play 8 of them.

Good luck Roy, Ray, Paddy and Dean!

Probably a bit late for a push for Europe but with 30 points to play for we should be able to get away from the dross and finnish about 10th
We have a superb set of players that were let down by PV and his coaches and will prove their worth to the club and themselves in the coming months

Having Roy and Ray back with Paddy in the sandwich couldn't be better ,Palace through and through .Give Derry a recall to stoke the fire and we are rocking and rolling .

Selhurst will be ready ,the team will be ready , COYP

There’s a classic headline in the Daily Star,

‘Roy Hodgson replaces Roy Hodgson as the Premier League’s oldest manager…’

I look forward to seeing Mateta take the corners!

Hopefully we can achieve safety well before the end of the season and Parish can line up Roy’s replacement before going on his summer holidays!

Good points.
It wasn't as though Pep was going to take a break and fill in for a few weeks and at this stage we don't need an Ardiles-style attack merchant who loses 5-4 every week (although losing 1-0 after not having a shot is probably worse it's the more pragmatic approach).
Seems a distant hope but it'd be nice to get a good win like the 5-0 Leicester game a while ago when things just click. Unlikely but we can dream.

Yes I look forward to seeing the Yacht photos a few days after the season is over. Should get around to appointing a new manager around the middle of July after everyone else has had first pickings.

Jesus, this has made me so cynical.
