The policy appears to be to acquire young players with potential whereas Vieira believes that experience is necessary. Edited by Willo (05 Mar 2023 5.41pm) Just another theory however as with others, one where sufficient evidence could be gathered to support it.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I wasn't going to post this but looking at the criticism of PV I will. I have an associate who plays golf regularly with an ex Grenwich Borough striker. So, PV is disillusioned with many of his squad as they are "coasters" was the word that was said, they are just going through the motions purely for the next paycheck. One name that was mentioned really surprised me , but I won't say who. And WZ is the only one that really cares, does a bit extra and he's leaving. That's what I was told , believe it or not, it's up to you. Surely if any manager at any level thought that some players weren’t giving their all they would be dropped immediately and replaced by players with a better attitude not just play the same old faces every week whether they are performing or not. If any of this is true then surely he’s lost the dressing room and needs to be replaced asap.

After our next 3 games we could be bang in the mix with no confidence at all Every club below us having to play us will be licking their lips and thinking 3 points or at the least, not losing.

The board aren't going to sack him when we have played only one team below us since the WC (the win against Bournemouth) and sit in 12th place with recent draws against United, Liverpool and Newcastle. I also saw a stat that we are third in the PL for cost per point this season (only behind Brentford and Brighton). Of course I'm not enjoying the games at the moment and if someone told me Tuchel or Pochettino want the job then fine, but when you look at how hard Leeds and Saints found it to get a manager at this stage of the season I think you have to be realistic. Personally I see no signs that the players have turned on Vieira and I have no desire to see another elderly stop gap. I also think a lot of it has to do with confidence. If we could get an unexpected win from one of the next three games that would be huge (if unlikely).

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out who Vieira has reservations about. This may not be for their lack of effort but because he doesn’t believe they are capable of fulfilling the roles he requires. On the other hand, Ayew and Schlupp frequently feature because he trusts them to give 100% and feels they will perform in the roles he requires better than the alternatives. We may well be drawn into the argument at the bottom of the table and if I was the manager I would certainly feel inclined to select players I can trust and rely on.

Sadly this season is about surviving the threat of relegation and then bringing on young players like Killian Philips and finding from somewhere a striker who can convert chances in the box. No idea from where but that's Dougie's job!

Eze is second in goals scored and assists, even with his limited time on the pitch compared to Schlupp and Ayew who have 2 goals and 1 assist between them, its strange that Roy got him to England squad status, and now struggles to get in the team, it goes to show how inept, inadequate, ineffectual Vieira is.
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

I think few would dispute that Eze has far more natural ability than the alternatives available. Originally posted by Lanzo-Ad
