They might have just touched boots with front foot but not enough for a foul, it was the trailing leg thrown sideways at Richards leg that tried to make it look like a penalty. It was a good call by the ref. Out of the penalty area no one would have looked twice at it.

Firstley well done to PV and the lads, that's more like it. Great team effort and a superb winner from Olise (it's Man U a draw feels like a win). If I was to be ultra picky I think Wilf could have done better at the end. He knows that AWB has the beating of him for pace and tackling so he should have taken the shot earlier. I only saw it on a small screen so might be doing him a disservice but AJ would have just swing the leg and hoped for the best.

He’s the only one who can do that scoop tackle” Wilf moved over to the right pretty early on, presuming that was to get away from AWB who was keeping him quiet. After all the sh1t he's got, its nice to see AWB showing some of his quality.

In real time I thought the ‘penalty’ was very obviously not a penalty. Seeing the replays it was definitely in the ‘seen ‘em given’ category. But there was the faintest of touches on the ball and so the decision was right - well done to the ref. Lampard and Murray are both numpties for saying there was no contact, there definitely was. Then for Rednapp to say the ref should have looked at the monitor was rank nonsense. The ref had said no penalty, VAR had confirmed no penalty, why on earth would he check the monitor? Just because he was being hounded by Moan U players? How much are these pundits paid? Anyone would think they were trying to generate fake controversy to boost viewing figures - as if! Clearly Moan U dropping two points to little old Palace doesn’t fit the Sky narrative so United must have been ‘robbed’. As far as I’m concerned Olise can not celebrate as many brilliant goals as he likes, just keep scoring them Michael! I didn’t notice at the time as I was too busy jumping up and down. A very heartening team performance. If I’m honest I thought United bossed the game for long spells but we never gave up and kept plugging away. As others have said, Hughes and Richards were very good. Edited by dg1937 (19 Jan 2023 4.02pm)

Well lads. Didn't see that coming did we? What's better is that they didn't either. Thought we'd be a walkover. We showed 'em. Team choice made a big difference. Lots more energy and flair on show. Hughes and Mitchell in particular. Well done PV and team. A well deserved and unexpected point.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

I still feel like last night has papered over huge cracks. We gave the ball away constantly. We struggled to control the ball with our first touch and our build up play towards the final third seems erratic.

I would have given the pen but understand why it wasn't. Neither side played 100%. It was a good game punctuated by innumerable unforced errors from both teams. Cliff played OK. Hughes terrific at breaking up play; not so good at distribution. I think he needs to concentrate on simple passes to someone who can pass. de Gea MOTM for me speaks volumes. We deserved at least the point. Sky's bias is painful. All pre-match was manure. Most commentary was manure. Half time chat was manure. Sky on twitter said the Olise goal had ROBBED (their capitals) manure of all 3 points (did they watch the same match as me?). Then again, is that news?

We played the form team of the premiership following a deserved victory over Man City after we lost against off form Chelsea and Spurs. Their good play caused us to be hectic and scrambled. Yet we got a point and deserved it. We will continue to struggle and grab the odd point through February and March; but the April/May run in will garner more than enough points for mid table. What else do you expect with our resources and budget?

Lovely interview with Chris Richards on Palace tv. Very bright, positive, articulate. He says he wasn't worried about the VAR check on his tackle on McTominay - says he thought he made a fair challenge that wasn't a foul. So cool!
