I think the bottom line is PV is a poor manager, tactically inept, can't motivate players, doesn't play to the strengths of what he has, his only virtue was his ability to attract players that may have chosen another club, he will continue to ruin the players he has until he is removed from his position and replaced by someone who has a decent track record as a manager. you must remember he was forth choice out of desperation, and it is starting to look like it.

Are you saying that the managers of the teams that are below Palace are poor too?

I think it no mean feat to keep a club like Palace in the top flight. PV came in having to re-build the team with a limited budget and so far he has done well.

Of course if we get relegated this season I will change my opinion but until then he has my support.

If he doesn't get his key signings in January then the board will have let him down.

I accept there was a significant re-building that was required, however our net spend whilst Vieira has been at the helm has been in the region of £100 Mill and I don't consider this a limited sum.

I'm thinking even if another £100M were to be spent Vieira still wouldn't know how to put a functional team together. Not sure what system was employed yesterday, the BBC have it as 4-1-4-1 - difficult to tell with so many lightweights milling around doing nothing of midfield consequence. Poor Luka, all on his lonesome; yes he's past it but he didn't stand a chance with those tactics.

Having just watched Notts Forrest's performance I feel even more ashamed and embarrassed about yesterday.

Nottm Forest have an exceedingly talented manager in Steve Cooper and he was available when Mr Hodgson departed.
I was only singing his praises the other day.

I haven't checked but £80m is the figure normally mentioned. Besides this money was spent after about 5 years of hardly any expenditure (£50m) during the same period Brighton spent £250m.

I respect your opinion, but i worry that it may be too late by then, i think a DM and RB is all we need to loan in Jan. unless we lose a key player.

In terms of 'Net Spend' since season 2017-18, I believe there is not too much variance between Brighton and ourselves.

The Famous Five, it gave Tottenham the reputation for being the most attacking team that ever existed. Wasn't Klinsmann one of them?

I doubt they were as attacking a force as the Spurs Famous Five of 1960-61: Jones, Allen, Smith, White, Dyson.

FFS we have lost one game . I wasnt happy with the recruitment in the summer and i said so to Carragher when i was interviewed by him before the Arsenal game . We relied on Jimmy Mac being fit and Gallagher coming back on loan, neither of which has happened. However reading some of the posts on here are unreal. We have had 1 very poor performance which Patrick has acknowledged. This comes after 2 wins and a draw , and after putting up good performances against the big 4 where we deserved a lot more than we got and schluup and Dacourie were not overun in midfield . We just need to bounce back against the Saints ,and then get to January and recruit. As to people on here talking relegation you need to get real

Despite that influx of creative talent, Nice were never truly convincing. Their defence, though solid, relied too often on the heroics of keeper Walter Benítez, and Vieira jumped from one formation to the next seemingly at random. Devoid of cohesion and creativity, Nice struggled to fashion chances for poacher Dolberg. Vieira’s philosophy was close to indecipherable.
When asked about his style of play by L’Équipe upon his arrival at the club in 2018, Vieira had been vague. “I’ll try to impose a style of play, with lots of one-twos, but play attacking football, all while having a compact defensive block,” he said. “Taking risks to score as many goals as possible is something that I am ready to do. What matters for me is getting the most out of my players while playing well. I don’t think there is any system or style of play that is better than another. Great coaches like Mourinho, Wenger or Guardiola have different philosophies, but they have all won, like Antonio Conte has done at Chelsea.”
“The coach hasn’t yet found the formula to get the best performance possible,” said midfielder Wylan Cyprien after a 4-0 defeat to Dijon in August 2018.

All those managers have had pots of money to spend, it’s when you are doing it on a shoestring that you find out who the best managers are. We have no cover and a weak bench to call upon, Vieira by and large is doing a fine job. If you look at where he was in the French league it was at the beginning of his managerial career….

I’m glad we have him, he’s a lot better than Stevie G and Frank Lampard….
