Well, I've been out for most of the day, but that's OK 'cos I set the recorder. But, it didn't. Probably operator error. Anyway I've seen the result and read (most of) the thread.

So, basically, I'm not sorry I missed it. Seems like it was a dreary affair. However, I've just finished watching Spurs beat Everton and the result puts us up a place and, blimey, Everton were poor. I'd be very surprised if our tactics and back passing were worse than theirs.

Chaps, we might lack punch up front, but we're sure as heck not the worst in the league. We'll be OK.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Zaha is in his comfort zone. Turns up when he can be bothered. I won't be too disappointed when he goes, we need to get past the "Wilf is our Saviour" mentality and move on.
It would be good to see Ebiowei get a run out.

Yes, definitely

i would have liked to see more fighting, yellow cards and passion.

We did seem to be half asleep. Leicester were bang-average. And really they were there for the taking.

Kayla did Anfield & Old Trafford

1) I suspect we often do worse against lesser teams because they don't take us lightly.

2) Vieira's subbing today was likely predicated on the fact that we have three matches in 8 days. Given our lack of depth, he hoped we'd be up 1-0 or 2-0 by 60 minutes and would then hold them off. Because our offense was pathetic, by the 60-70 mark he was counting on magic for a win or settling for an acceptable away point.

3) It's still hard to watch us play passive football. Part of the problem is that two of most skilled players are mellow, smooth, technical players. We need more MacArthur/Gallagher energy in the midfield engine room. Surely Dougie & Co. are searching...

4) Luka played better than usual, but it's currently a low bar. Wish he'd let Eze try the half-volley – with his right foot – rather than banging it uselessly. Selfish.

5) Although Guehi played nervous today (the Southgate effect?), we're lucky to have him.

6) MOTM Guaita is looking more assertive in the air – good sign.

Enjoyed reading that, good post.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

The more i see the performances, i think that PVs only attribute is attracting players, he was clueless today, the formation is wrong, the substitutes were awful, Wilf and Ayew were pathetic, and Doucoure looks like he is out of his depth in the premiership, he is a yellow card a game, but having said that we need two DMs and Wilf, Eze and Olise need more freedom, i thought Guehi did ok, Andersen was good, Luka and Jairo, Whattt!!!, the front three should all have been changed to Ebiowei, Mateta and Olise at half time, Pathetic.

Surely you have to be joking.

Not a great game today by anyone, but Doucoure looks the real deal

Eze is one of the most creative players in the league, but he has two wide players and a striker who don't make runs, or find space if you make a run, he will find you, the mid field has to be;

WilF// Eze// Olise
//Doucoure//Luka, Hughes or McArthur until the next window, and Ebiowei needs game time in place of Wilf, 20mins here and there.
I can't see Wilf getting a decent contract anywhere, including us.

he doesn't, the game is too quick for him, he is slow in tackle, and not a general, Jedinak style, he also has three yellows already, that's why i think he is substituted, a red is only round the corner, he needs to understand the premiership and Ligue 1 are miles apart, and learn quickly.

I know the substitutions were made with good intentions of saving players for upcoming game and avoiding a red but having a good chunk of the game with Ward, Riedewald, Milivojevic, Schlupp, Mateta and Ayew on the pitch at the same side is pretty depressing against a team that had conceded 24 goals in 9 games. Barely Championship level.
Luckily, Maddison did not have his shooting boots on and that dive probably sealed any faint chance he had of making the WC

An awful game but respect the point.

I don't think Viera has been backed this summer at all and he's facing the same problem Roy did when it comes to shaking things up. However, IMO he should have left Wilf on as he's a proven matchwinner particularly when the game gets stretched (unless he's unwell as has been suggested).

Guaita's a fine goalkeeper and gave a masterclass in decision making today as he does most weeks IMO.

Share the same view as most others regarding Luka but don't think he made us any worse when he came on.

I still think Doucoure needs to move the ball forwards more. It's the easiest game in the world to sit in front of two good centre backs and pass the ball square and backwards.

Zaha shouldn't have been taken off, if anyone is going to break the deadlock in the last 7/8 minutes, it's Wilf.
