anybody bothered to crunch the data ?

Don't need to bother. Stupid, inaccurate (coincidental at best) theory. We lost last night becasue we chose to sit back and invite pressure.

I sense a lot of fans on here agree that when Luka comes on now it just fills you with dread. You should not feel that about a player, knowing he has a mistake or a bad performance in him.
Happy to be proved wrong this season but I suspect come the seasons end in May they'll be plenty of evidence to prove the case.
His crossfield pass in an attack fired well over for a goal kick.
Chickened out of a 50-50 in the middle of the park allowing a break. I could go on. We see it all far too often in his performances. A few years ago he was the first name on the teamsheet It's just hard to take to see his sharp decline.

He has been brilliant for us over the years and we owe him some respect.
It is must be difficult as the game speeds up and you slow down and at the same time you only get minutes here and there.
Chickened out - I doubt it!
He made an absolute monster of a tackle in front of the dug outs on Tuesday night - a real 50-50 cruncher!
Give the man a break

The reason we didn't win is entirely PV fault, not luka or Mitchell, when we took Olise and Eze off 2/3 of our attacking options were removed, and we invited Brentford to attack, i have no doubt that with the subs Brentford had made we would have scored another 1 or 2 goals, last night Southampton with a one goal lead over Chelsea made 2 attacking subs in the second half, and didn't bring a defender on until the 86th min, PV can attract players to the club that other managers cant, but he is tactically a poor manager.

It's easy to scapegoat one individual for the result. Luka's still on the payroll and will get called upon to play from time to time. If, as many think, he is not PL standard ask instead why is the midfield so paper tissue thin? What has the club been doing to ensure the most competed area of the park is staffed with the correct level of player for the role? With the departure of Gallagher and Kouyate, and the injury to McArthur we are woefully thin in this area.
Heaven forbid Doucoure picks up an injury, or we'll be left with the prospect of Hughes, Eze, and Schlupp as our midfield. A frightening prospect.
If the club has a couple of signings lined up, players who will go straight in, I could understand the strategy. If not, our season is going to be a long one.

We drew.

But it felt like a loss and I agree your point. Every year there is one player who all the fans adopt as their scape goat; and this year it is Luca.

Luca is far from what we need and is something of a dead horse being flogged until Jimmy Mac is fit, or we can afford to replace him, or - more likely given what appears Parish's long term aims - be replaced by youth feeding through the ranks.

Until then, he is what he is and he is one of ours. You just need to just accept that and get off his back.

I didn't understand Eze but his injury takes YEARS to fully heal, so perhaps it is a bit of that. Spreading his effect over a long season.

Olise definitely take him off. Anyone that soon back from injury needs to be sparingly used at first, especially if he is also going to be playing France U21 where I suspect his use will be less than circumspect and they will not care a fig if he is returned to us injured (like the last time he played for them).

I wholly agree they should not have come off but I suspect it was the need to preserve our best resources.

I don't consider his a 'scapegoat'. As he has passed his prime in the EPL he is being called upon to come on and salvage a point/keep a win/turnaround a defeat. That is how poor our depth of squad is. No reflection on him and surely PV would not play him if he didn't have to. Would he!?

need to correct you there the goal come from CBs not doing there job nothing todo with PV, as a ex defender the CBs are the ones in charge of the back line , i played left back and the CBs would tell me what to do while they commanded the center , both our CBs got build out of position by not looking around them , so the blame comes down to players forgetting there jobs and nothing else

Last-ditch winner for Liverpool against Newcastle just the same as us, attacker not picked up at the far post after the toon backed off near the end conceding corners.

You want the ball up the pitch, if you have to hoof it so what.

It was very poor tactics and the subs were rank.

Rubbish, if they had kept the attacking players on, they wouldn't have got the chance to cross, because the ball would have mostly been in there half.

need to ask what standard of football did you play Lanzo , because I was semi pro for a short period back in the late 70s early 80s but found the players to clicky and went back to playing business house lge , but same rules apply what ever standard you play , brentford had put on a all out attack to get level , because i can see it now , they score and then get the winner people would have being shouting why didnt we bring on more defence , for me PV was right players didnt do there job in defence and it is basic defending 101
