I agree. He also stopped Nunez scoring by getting a foot in that meant he hit the post, plus played two balls to Zaha which he should have scored with. Looks very composed and against lesser opposition he will thrive as he is an excellent passer and has great vision, always looking forwards when he can. Possibly not the bruiser we might have expected though..

My bigger concern last night was Ayew who with the new rules didn't win his usual 100 free-kicks a game and Liverpool seemed to literally run him over at times.

I thought it was a great team performance and a deserved point. I was however appalled at the way the commentary, pundits and Klopp responded to Nunez's sending off though. Ian Wright, Klopp and the commentator (here on TSN) almost seemed to suggest Andersen deserved to be headbutted. The TSN commentator said "Well, Andersen did shove him" before his colleague stepped in and said "You can't headbutt someone for pushing you". Unbelievable! If VVD had been headbutted by Wilf there would have been a meltdown. Wright (who never says anything good about us these days unless it is to praise Vieira) even suggested he didn't make contact and that Andersen went down too easily (which is maybe true, but he was headbutted!) One newspaper referred to it as a coming together of heads, which is a bit like saying Russia's invasion of Ukraine is a coming together of countries.

If I headbutt someone on the street I get arrested and yet on a football pitch it's ok and can be excused as 'naivety' or 'inexperience'. I'm not saying Nunez should get arrested but he should get an extended ban as he actually attempted to chin Andersen in the build-up which is why Andersen shoved him, and this was not your usual footballer headbutt, he actually goes to properly chin him.

I was expecting the usual pant-creaming when Liverpool equalised but I thought it was appalling how the headbutt was downplayed. Nunez was a dirty pr^ck in our preseason friendly with them so I was not actually surprised to see him do something like that. He's a hot head and this won't be the last of it.

In a way, not much different to the infamous Zidane head butt. Ok his was to the chest but it was a deliberate movement to butt someone. I can’t recall exactly what the punishment was but I think it was worse than the standard 3 match ban.

It wouldn't be that surprising if we end up being the only team to leave Anfield with something this season so have to be happy with a point. If you'd offered me 1 point at this stage 15 minutes into the Arsenal game I'd have taken it. Our pre-season was a shambles so this is a decent start.

Zaha lacking consistency. Brilliantly scores the most difficult chance and misses two comparatively straightforward ones. If he could bury those he'd be playing for Liverpool/City/Bayern.

We badly need to upgrade Schlupp. Any game where we have McArthur play this season we'll look a better team. Hopefully we can get someone in.

Ayew will be ineffective with these rules but we'll probably see little of him now Olise is back.

I'm not getting the greatest sense of confidence from Guaita at the minute. Seems slow getting out to players (Nunez hitting the post, Milner in the first minute) and he's had a few questionable handling moments e.g. that one he dropped at Andersen's feet that he had to put behind. Johnstone definitely has a chance of getting his spot.
