I dont think he will leave Chelsea for anyone, Chelsea have a lot of matches to play this season, and i think Gallagher will start in at least 25% of them, its time to move on, this time next year i think Malachi Boateng and Killian Phillips will be ready for midfield roles, i think unless someone leaves, Luka, Hughes, Schlupp, Jairo or McArthur will be partnering Eze and Doucoure.

I was fairly confident that Gallagher would be returning to us until yesterday but after seeing him come on against Tottenham I’m starting to feel that maybe he won’t be going anywhere.

Very reluctantly (and sadly) I think we need to move on from Connor. We served our purpose in his journey to the top (should have gone all out to get him on a permanent at the beginning when there may have been a chance) but he was so good with us that it has scuppered any hope of a permanent deal. If nothing else we learn that there are some very good youngsters out there if we are prepared to give them the opportunity. Maybe James Garner from Man U would be worth a look. Good point but we didn't really know how well he would come on with us. Hardly lighted the ground up for WBA previously. Looked busy as far as I remembered when I saw a few highlights on MOTD of their games but not influential. Breakthrough season was for him here and I think he has flown away from us now.

My thoughts echo most on this... As much as I'd love him to come back I can't see it happening. His intentions are clear, he's a Chelsea fan and wants to break into the team. Chelsea will be trying to win all 4 comps and will need depth to rotate. Conor will struggle to pin down a regular PL starting spot - which will negatively impact his chances of making the WC squad, however he will feature regularly as we've seen already. I suspect play in all cup games and the same goes for RLC. If Chelsea go on to sign 2x central midfielders, the situation changes as he'll be pushed down the pecking order.

Todays papers report that Conor Gallagher could be set for a return to Palace if Chelsea sign Frankie Dejong. Apparently we are Conor's prefered destination. Please let this happen.

Although according to the BBC Sport website / gossip section - the Telegraph article says Sandcastle are keen on signing Callum Hudson Odoi - Christian Pulisic - Conor Gallagher + Armado Broja in some permutation of signings & a loan - Maybe its a case of throwing enough names into the article to have more chance of being right about something -

A Mr D. Nugent (not sure how he knows) in the sainsbury's car park told me Gallagher, AWB, Semenyo and Aouar have all been on the phone to him to ask if there are any spaces for them to park. Make of that what you will Edited by AshfordEagle94 (19 Aug 2022 11.53am)

I would have thought new teenage signings Chukwuemeka - who played a fair bit for Villa last year - or even Casadei were more likely. They know Gallagher's quality but may want to see if younger players can step up and replace Kante or Jorghino, to some extent, whose contracts I believe expire next summer

De Jong is not going anywhere he stays at Barcelona, they owe him too much money, people need to think about this, the only way Chelsea would let him go out on loan, is until January so he can play himself into the world Cup squad. After that they want him back for the business end of the season, who wants Gallagher until January? There's no point, this is pointless, he is not coming back, unless we bid £40 million to buy him.
