I understand why some people, with a lack of vision and feet of clay, wanted to leave. I understand why many others were sold fake promises and duped by the usual attraction of jam tomorrow and green grass in the next field. I understand why 48% of people didn't think like that, or buy the snake oil. Do you understand that only a small number are actually the kind of "Brexit at any cost", leaver that you are? Shortly after the referendum I was at a party where the result was discussed among a group of 20-somethings who were all appalled and outraged at the result. My wife asked them why (I was more interested in getting stuck into the beer) and the answer, after a lot of eye-rolling and tutting, was “racism”. She then asked how many of them had voted in the referendum. Answer: None.

Unless of course, they meant West Indian and Asian heritage Britons voted Leave as they were racist towards white Europeans.

The day after the referendum some young female adult went up to this guy from close to the Mediterranean I know to apologise to him. She clearly knew him a little. He’s been here since around 2000, if she knew. I expect this happened a lot, just like the young chavs on Northern buses gobbing off to foreign people they can leave or whatever. You can always rely on many for drama and stupidity. ‘’Ruined my life’’ and ‘’I’m European’’ placards.

Experience which you know I trust and value. I don't doubt that was true. My own experience of the French was they always put their own interests first. Nothing is perfect, but anything that helps is better than nothing helping. Brexit hasn't helped us secure EU help. But when we get through it without their help; which I'm confident we will then your whole argument of brexit bad will be pretty mute.

Plenty of stuff from the leavers about control of our borders and the ending of free movement, but no racism. If they didn't vote then it hardly mattered anyway!

This cannot be done with the co-operation of our neighbours, primarily the French, and that cannot be easier because of Brexit. What would happen if Le Pen gets in, I am at a loss to anticipate. She might buddy up with Johnson or might take a "France first" line. Who knows?

Nothing good she will play the same UK bashing song as Macron and possibly even louder, quite frankly I don't care who wins their election it wont be good news for us.
