Quite Andy. Too much angst on here about the ref and VAR as I said earlier. But, whilst the penalty was wrong and we were fighting back, we missed too many chances. The end result was down to the way we played in the first half.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Your right Old Geezer, we had enough chances to win easily, the fact that the Liverpool keeper was man of the match says it all.

That said, the 2 pivotal moments in the game was the second goal which wasn’t checked by VAR and a penalty which was given, well are the people that are officiating these games seeing something that the majority of us aren’t ?

I like our keeper. But if he comes and claims the ball instead of hesitating , coming forward a few paces, then back a few. He could have claimed the ball and then ironed out jota. Without a penalty claim.

Jota lost control of the ball and decided to vear towards the keeper. No one thought it was a pen at all.

Call me glass half full, but after the first half hour to the end we were magnificent.
We were best for the first 30 mins of the second half when we went 442 until the subs.
Olise constantly skinned one of the best full back in the world. Robinson. Turned him inside out on a number of occasions. Olise is a star.
Schluppie Gallagher Hughes were immense. Shluppies pass for the goal one of his best ever.
Edouard and Mateta were stunning second half.
We were playing 12 men.
They were playing 25000 of us.
PV is turning us into something very special.

I agree with most of what you say bur Mateta and Eduoard need two play as a pair in a 4-4-2, not Eduaord on the left

Their first goal was so easy for them and that was the only goal they scored without any help from the officials, hopefully we will sort out our problems from set pieces because the three goals they scored against us in our last loss to them were all from corners, apart from that we defended fairly well in the end.

He did that while anticipating jota having a shot.

Joel Ward needs to pick up the target man from corners. He is strong and gets his head to the ball Guehi and Andersen lack the physical presence. He should be in front of, and tight to VVD to block off his run - schoolboy stuff. VVD was free for the first 2 corners today.
