We were defending the whole game because we are lacking forwards or the right forwards. Eze didn’t look fit and Olise is too young to play 90minutes. In addition we have three very similar centre forwards for some reason. We need to sign at least one forward player in this window hopefully with pace which we are lacking.

The defence were exhausted by the end of the game especially young Mitchell. The coaching staff are lacking premier league experience by trying to defend a one goal lead that in inevitably led to their goal.

Wardy can be a warrior in his own box but is a liability going forwards. He does not make good decisions in the final third and we are weak down the right flank because of it.

My worry is that we are not looking for a new RB due to getting Ferguson but he has been out for so long its putting a lot on him being the answer which I do not think is wise. We really could pick up a RB for 2 to 5 million this January.

Also, agree with all of this. He has been getting found out a lot in past couple seasons and will be targeted as a weakness by other teams. Very surprised that Clyne hasn't been pushing him more for a start. We really don't know how Ferguson will cut it in the prem after so long out and so little experience but we'll see in a few weeks i reckon.

Out of the two games this season it's fair to say each team probably deserved to win a game each. So two 1-1s was probably about fair enough.

Positives
Thought it was Andersen's best defensive display and unfortunate with the own goal.
Back four as a whole stood up well to constant pressure... did struggle to play the ball out.
Fantastic performance from Butland especially after his howler last weekend.
Olise although limited involvement I thought showed maturity and tried to take responsibility where possible.

Negatives
Struggled against teams who press us.
Eze struggled to influence game (but to be fair to him it was only first league start of the season).
Without Kouyate as designated breaker-upper, Hughes and Gallagher both lose a lot of their positives. Luka could provide cover but not really mobile enough.

Overall a disappointing performance but respect the point and move on.

Point earnt tonight. Almost identical to the reverse fixture when we dominated but had to settle for the point.

I don’t know why but it pisses me off that the 1st thing Luka does when coming on is hung out Ward to take the armband. If he focused more on his game then wearing a bit of elastic then he might be a bit better.

Forgot to mention the ref, he was really good, got all the decisions spot on!

Never seen him before but I endorse that praise.
One of the best we've had.
That makes two on here who actually recognise a good ref !
I think our manager was going to get sent off again for ranting at the assistant.

I felt uncomfortable with the selection before the game even allowing for the fact that we had players unavailable.
Eze is not a player for the left of a front 3 in my view and Schlupp is not a central midfield player.
The move for our goal was good, but otherwise our passing was poor and we made Brighton look like Manchester City.
We really miss Mcarthur but with his age and injury record we need to plan without him and need at least one additional box to box central midfield player.

Based on that display Liverpool will destroy us next weekend

No Salah or Mane (who always scores against us). I am hopeful we can turn them over

Well Ward ‘s forward run did help set up the excellent team goal. But I agree he didn’t have a good game overall.

This all shows how we miss Ayew down the right! With him around, Ward is so much better..

Or put another way Ayew is papering over the cracks. We missed him a lot tonight as he would have drawn a number of fouls and given us some respite especially when our backs were against the wall (most of the game!!)

Bring back Brolin

We missed Ayew holding the ball up and taking people on and drawing fouls, he also by the nature of his game doesn't give the opposition wing back the chance to have a free run at Ward which is what made him look so poor this evening.
I'll gratefully accept the point Brighton haven't beaten us in the last six matches, 2 wins, 4 draws. Long may it continue.

Vieira has been booked in each of the last 4 decades, he would be the first person to be sent off in each of the last 4 decades, when he eventually is.

Only a matter of time.
