I listened to some alternative views last night and although Boris is in deep doo doo and almost certainly told some untruths two points of view were interesting.
One Lady caller to a talk show - Remember that he is a human being - not a punchbag in other words - who personally suffered great trauma through the pandemic and who has also been under more pressure than any PM bar during wars over the last 20 months (and I do not include slimey Blair in that list) and that he currently has been relentlessly beaten up by all and sundry both in the House and in the media - and so despite his mistakes think about him nearly dying and his Mum passing and so on plus his overall responsibility.
A Red Wall MP - who I presume had not been bribed - who said that he sold Conservative policies to his constituents based on what Boris said and that he won his seat on that basis and in his mind the Party has been delivering and that his Town was doing much better than before and so he would support his Prime Minister 100%albeit he wanted to see the Sue Gray report.
He thought that the defector yesterday was an absolute disgrace to the party and parliament - particularly in the way that he went about it as well.
Finally - someone asked why everything that Cunmmings says is taken as Gospel truth?
It is seeping out that the email he referred to was in fact sent to the Secretary and not Boris so Cummings was not being truthful and to my mind he is scum anyway given the way he has behaved.
In any event - Boris has not been a good boy but taking the above into account and the fact that he won a landslide victory, that he got Brexit done and that our vaccine rollout is amazing and that behind the scenes there is stuff going on with policy that we never hear about then maybe he should be given one more chance.
Add to that - the only reason that Labour want him out is because they are scared of him!
I now await the slaughter!

You couldn't write parody that good.

We are all waiting for the Civil Servant to produce a master-class of deflection, misinformation and downright lies to save Johnson.

Presented in impeccable Sir Humphrey style we will end up in awe at how someone could get away with it and find ourselves scratching our heads at how we could doubt the most dis-honest person I can ever remember being PM.

I am particularly interested in how they handle his apology to the Queen which is an admittance of his wrong-doing.

This is surely a perfect opportunity for the conservatives to throw Boris under a bus and blame him for everything that has gone even remotely awry over the last two years. If they come up with a decent plan to deal with the current inflation and cost of living issues and put a suitable candidate up for PM then this has to be the way forward and will see them stay in power for the foreseeable future.

If they don’t do this I reckon the public have had enough of the lies and arrogance and it will lose the conservatives (to probably a coalition government) the next election. I really can’t see labour winning one outright.

A fair summary and I broadly agree - as much as I'd love to see him go as humiliatingly as possible, politically the Tories can only improve once he's out, and plenty of time to win back votes before a GE.

The former Labour prime minister said that without a radical shift in policy Britain faces “a steady, inexorable compound decline, similar to the 1960s and 1970s”.

Sir Tony said that whether or not Mr Johnson survives the Partygate scandal, Downing Street’s biggest problem is the absence of a plan for the country’s future.

Regardless of posters feelings about TB, how true that is.

Our position in the world, the way others see us, has been trashed by Johnson's self-interest.

One can be sure that Sir Tony has the perfect plan for our futures, and also one that involves him and Lady B making lots more money.....

Seconded.
That's a straw poll of 100% want him to stay.
That's how easy it is to manipululate figures

I want him to stay on the basis that he is a vote winner, and I just can't imagine a country run by Liz Truss or that Tony Blair impersonator, Rishi Sunak.

More importantly, I don't want that sham of an opposition party getting anywhere near government.

Best case scenario is that Boris' lurch toward liberalism encourages people to seek a new proper conservative party that represents the majority of British people and their culture.

I could possibly bear Boris on his own although he is a bloody arrogant t***, but it’s his wife Carrie really running the show. She like most women these days has weedled herself in, popped out a couple of sprogs to turn the lock and in a gloriously shambolic way orchestrated the current meltdown.
The sooner Boris et all are quietly removed, the safer we will all become. The shambolic lurching from one crisis to the next was epitomised for me recently when Boris announced that no one had told him he couldn’t throw parties. Come on Carrie, that’s just not on to keep him that badly informed.
The only good thing to come about was the axing of that vicious snake Cummings but seeing as how Boris personally hired him not so great.
The only issue left would be who to replace him/her with.
I’m still here thinking but my mind is drawing a blank.
God what a second rate bunch of losers we have become.
A massive overhaul of an outdated political system is long overdue.
In the meantime I like most will continue to act irresponsibly breaking the law on a daily basis as I haven’t got a clue what it is with it changing so regularly.
Here’s hope for the future. By god we are going to need it.
